Before the sets, the costumes, or the music, there’s the story. For No Ceilings co-founder , storytelling is the heart of everything we create.

Phil talks about why story always comes first, the kinds of stories we’re drawn to telling, and how that shapes every show we bring to life.

Hear more from the team behind the work.

Every pop star needs a bodyguard. Few would choose one quite like Brody.

A former mall cop with a shadowy history (or at the very least, some unresolved mall Santa trauma), Brody takes his job dead seriously. He’s watchful, suspicious of everyone, and surprisingly hard to spot when he doesn’t want to be. Somewhere between protective and paranoid lies Brody. So when he’s caught getting rid of evidence, is he covering something up, or just getting his steps in?

Here’s Salvador Velazquez stepping into Brody’s boots on board Virgin Voyages.

Introducing Breaking the Ceiling, a new series taking you behind the scenes of how we create, with the people who make our shows happen.

First up is , Co-Founder and Creative Director of No Ceilings. Kim has helped bring fashion shows, TV performances, immersive theater, and more to life, and his favorite part of the process is still the same: taking a simple idea from our team and bringing it to the collaborators we’ve always dreamed of working with.

For our first Vegas production, The Mayfair Supper Club, that meant a creative meeting with one of his biggest idols, Dana Foglia, Beyoncé’s longtime choreographer. After years of admiring her work from afar, Kim found himself in the same room, building choreography together.

More conversations with our team and collaborators are on the way. Follow along so you don’t miss the next one.

Behind every glamorous pop star is the sister nobody thought to interview first. In Murder in the Manor, that’s Jenny.

A wickedly smart and sarcastic journalist, Jenny has always lived in the shadow of her glamorous twin sister, Sheena. Thrust into a murder mystery she never asked for, Jenny becomes our unlikely heroine. She’s equal parts investigator, underdog, and reluctant medium. She’s got brains, bite, and a killer sense of timing.

Here’s Gabrielle Farrow bringing her to life on board Virgin Voyages.

Every set we build is working, whether the audience notices it or not.

Beauty and function don’t always agree, and we’ve learned to treat that tension as the actual work, not something to eliminate. Every choice, down to a single color or texture, is meant to be doing something for the story, even when the audience never consciously clocks it.

The set is never neutral. It’s part of how the story actually gets told.

Every set we build starts with a question: what is this story actually about?

Our Art Director, Phil Shaw, breaks down how a set gets built, from pulling references and building mood boards to the mock-ups, the scenic handoff, and designing around a room instead of despite it.

Every diet soda war needs a mastermind. In Murder in the Manor, that’s Tiffany Van Buren.

Bubbly, manipulative, and dressed like a walking Tab ad, Tiffany is Sheena’s childhood best friend and the creator of Fab, a rival soda with side effects nobody saw coming. Big hair, bigger secrets, and a friendship with Sheena that may have come with strings... and poison.

Georgia Newman brings her to life.
