As a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, cellist David Bjella has a multi faceted career as a teacher, chamber musician, orchestral player, and soloist. He is Professor of Cello at Stetson University, faculty member for the Cuerdas de Enlace festival in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, cello mentor at the Hot Springs Festival in Arkansas, performs with the Orlando Chamber Soloists in the Black Hills region of South Dakota, and was a featured soloist this past summer at the Beaumaris Festival in Wales.

"My parents are both musicians, so growing up, I had the desire to want to play with them. I went through Indian drum, broken piccolo, piano, and potentially bassoon before I started cello lessons. Chamber music is still my passion, but teaching has also become an important part of my life too. It's scary and exciting to think that it's already been six years at Juilliard and that I'll be graduating in May. I'm not exactly sure where I'll end up, or what I'll be doing, but I'm trying to keep my mind open. I also started producing music for fun since last year."
