Finally, we exhale!

After 7 months of preparing for the first-ever StoryKeep Symposium, we are pleased to share it was

Incredible.

Magical.

Deep.

In collaboration with we hosted an intimate gathering in the center of for multi-generational enterprising families to discuss the power of their stories and narratives.

We moved way beyond story as sentiment or nostalgia, and we looked at how story creates meaning, structure and continuity for enterprising, multigenerational families who attempt (and often struggle) to keep connected.

The symposium was housed at the very special - a museum and library for free thought. We were delighted by how everyone who attended leaned into vulnerable conversations about family, emotional inheritance, wealth and well-being.

Most of our images will remain private, as that was the nature of the gathering, but I wanted to share a few.

If you come from a family that thinks about enterprise continuity & wealth and well-being, you might like to join us next year.

After seven years in the Netherlands, I’m finally getting around to learning the history of this country. Okay, that is not entirely true but I feel that there are layers of history that I never had the interest or capacity to fully understand until now. I was too busy integrating, growing up, finding my way.

Oh the sorrows and joys of the expat life!

And now, it’s such a pleasure to read about Johannes Vermeer and the Holland he inhabited. To go a layer deeper—which just invites me to understand the entire world a little more. There is a nourishment to reading history and seeing some things more clearly.

To situate yourself and what you see in the present in a continuum of time.

An artist is an artist during a certain time in history.

A scientist is a scientist during a certain time, and in a certain place.

As I write this, my six year old daughter is watching Bluey (the cartoon). It’s finally warm out!!!…but it’s Friday and she is tired from the week. She just wants to relax, safely in her living-room cocoon.

A child is a child during a certain time.

I love this book. The writing is delicious and satisfying.

Maybe it takes 7 years (or a lifetime) to be ready to read a certain book.

Just reporting: I’m insanely happy and it feels hard-won.

My sweet girl is growing up. Most days she asks to give her simple braid, some days she wants flowers tucked in. She ALWAYS wants me take a picture of her hair so she can see it.

She inspires me to look deeply at my own patterns, my wounds. She is brilliantly funny. I find her unbelievably beautiful.

And, her struggles trigger me. Because I don’t want any of my old pains to plague her. I am finding my way to surrender to this.

We did it! We brought our 5-year-old daughter on a business trip. 🤪We simply didn’t want to be away from her for 2 weeks so we got creative.

We started by flying from to and then drove to for a private event. She had a fantastic time at the kids club!! 🩷😎🐚 We spoke on the topic of family narratives and helped participants see the immense power of their families stories for passing on their and building and in younger generations.

Then we flew from to ✈️ and spoke at another event for ‘s . While we spoke about the relationship between planning, our little one stayed with my cousin and got to play with her cousins.

This week, we made our way to for a real family vacation.

I was very nervous how it would all play out but our daughter rolled with the punches, adjusted to the time zones changes like a champ and it’s been a huge gift to spend so much time together.

Fall time crafting. The best part is you never know what will happen and what wonders you can create. My little one inspired our hunt for “good sticks” and “good leaves.” After a stop to eat cake a drink tea out of the rain, we set up shop on the kitchen table. Rubbing leaves came back to me from 3rd grade art projects. And she wanted to do the biggest leaf, which turned into a giant prop…I couldn’t help asking her to fan me while I ate these gorgeous grapes we found in the alley way on our way home.

Today, I got my bona fide Dutch passport! Six weeks ago, I officially became a dual citizen of the Netherlands and the United States, but picking up my passport today made it feel so REAL.

What does this mean? It means that I never will be separated from my daughter for reasons of citizenship. I can always live and work in the Netherlands — and the rest of Europe!

It took five and a half solid years of language and culture study, exams, paperwork, payments, and full integration into a new country and culture to get here. I’m astounded that I actually made it happen, especially alongside all the other balls I was juggling.

Thanks for all the friends and acquaintances and family - most of all ! - who supported me and cheered me on during this monumental life transition.

It started with falling in love. ❤️

Seems easy. It’s not!

Love required all I had — all my truthfulness. All my willingness. All my personal powers. It required me to change, to transform, to be born again.

So, this looks like a passport, but really, it’s my second birth certificate.

Let me say this: Whatever you are in the midst of, whatever journey you’re in the middle of, whatever sh*t you’ve got your boots stuck into…keep going.

Today, I depart on a 10 day intensive Dutch language course. In perfect Dutch fashion, I’m getting there by train and bike.

Ik heb zin in een goede tijd!

That’s us.
