On a recent trip to NYC, I finally made it out to Roosevelt Island. As I walked along the snowy shoreline I watched the morning light shift from warm tones to cooler tones in just a few short minutes. This is my favorite capture of those warmer tones. Enjoy 😎

Another pic from the vault at sunrise. This location is about 50 feet from the parking area in Grand Teton National Park. We shared this sunrise with about 30 others waiting for the perfect light. The sun did not disappoint as it colored the tops of the mountains in a cool pink/lavender hue. This was once a part of a Mormon community in the 1890s-1900s. ENJOY 😎

Early mornings are the best at capturing that peaceful calm before the day gets too busy. This one from the vault is still one of my favorite mornings spent with my lovely bride. She is very helpful finding the perfect vantage points. The water is really that color. Early in the summer it is full of mineral flour from the winter melt. Enjoy.

The only problem with a bucket list, for me anyways, is I often move the destination back on the list after visiting. After several visits to Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park, this was my favorite capture. This location is a short hike from the parking lot which is nice since it's accomplished in the dark in anticipation of the sunrise. The morning light bounces off the canyon floor to illuminate the underside of the arch magnificently. Enjoy.

We didn't get much snow over the weekend so I thought I would share some of my favorite snow pics from the vault. Click to see the full images. This is the Matterhorn and one of my favorite B&W images. Our pilot flew us up close to capture the image on the right. We then landed on top of a glacier for the highest golf hole in the world. Enjoy.

I love to visit NYC and the variety of photography it affords. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate or the light can be too harsh. During these situations take the picture anyway. I often go back to previous pictures and see what they would look like in B&W. I am often rewarded with interesting photos that were bland in color. Click to see full images. Enjoy 😎

I found these images in the vault to share. We had driven down the Pacific Coast from Olympic National Park to San Francisco. When I went to capture the Golden Gate Bridge at night I was greeted by a coyote. The coyote hung out for a few moments and then moseyed on. The next morning the fog lifted a little for me. This location is so captivating because the light changes constantly. (Click to see full images)

Another photo from the vault. I love the blue hour at the end of a day! Not only is it a great time for reflection but the light can be pretty amazing. Thanks goes out to my patient sweetheart who graciously endures my waiting for the perfect light and just one more photo. 😀 ENJOY

This was taken on a trip to Utah a few years ago. I love the moodiness of an approaching storm. It's always nice after the storm clears as well! Dead Horse Point State Park was the location for the final scenes of Thelma and Louise. The little road that goes down to the canyon floor is called the Shafer Trail. I don't recommend it after a rain. It is very narrow with lots of switchbacks and sheer drop-offs. Enjoy (click on the images for the full experience) 😎

We were traveling from Grand Teton National Park early one morning heading to Yellowstone National Park. I abruptly pulled over when I saw this scene developing in my driver's side mirror.
I've experienced many occasions over the years where the best photo opportunity is behind me. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere. Enjoy 🙂

I got a chance to visit the Great Smoky Mountains with friends. This was not a photography trip but so glad I threw my gear in the car. The crispy mountain air helped a lot to capture this image of the Super moon. Enjoy 😎
