Thinking about those early years as a kid, carefree: not a worry in the world.

I’m not big on birthdays, especially my own. I’ve always been happy to let the day pass without much acknowledgment. But turning 50 felt like it should mean something, so I decided to treat myself—to a day alone with my camera, a Canon 20D. For a while, I’d wanted to visit the Jamaica Bay Wi...

Another amazing day at Playa Lagarto with the awesome team at Tortugas Pedasi! 🐢🌴 It's bittersweet leaving Panama, not just because of the amazing people and friendships made, but also because of my passion for conservation work. 😢 As I embark on my 'final act' on this planet, I'm determined to make a difference and spend more time helping to protect our beautiful environment. 💚🌍 It's time to get serious about conservation, and I'm not afraid to be annoying and encourage my friends to join me in this mission! Let's all do our part and make a positive impact for the future of our planet and generations to come. 🌱🌞

Hoo boy!!

What a day! It started with a 4:30 am wake-up call to patrol the beach to check for new nests. After 3.5 miles and no new nests, we returned to our rooms.

We had a little breakfast, then, at 8:00 am, returned to do a beach clean-up. In about 2 hours, we had two full recycle bags of plastic and other types of waste that washed ashore. Bottles, toothbrushes, cans, and parts of shoes, so much plastic trash ends up in the ocean, on the beach, in the wildlife, and our food.

While it's great to leave the beach in better condition than we found it, we need more people to be mindful of their waste and its environmental impact. Let's take action to reduce our plastic consumption and dispose of waste properly. Together, we can make a difference!

🐢🌎 We're thrilled to have presented our GoFundMe donations to Juan and Ana, who run the turtle conservation program at Asociacion Conservervacionista de Playa Malena! With their hard work and dedication, they relocated 536 nests and saved over 48,000 turtle eggs. Best of all, 40,159 baby turtles were released into the wild!

We're inspired by the impact that such a small group of people can make, and we're committed to supporting their efforts. Let's protect our planet's wildlife together! Our GoFundMe is ongoing, (link: https://gofund.me/aa9f03da) please donate now and make a difference. Also, don't forget to share this post and help raise awareness about the importance of turtle conservation. Thank you for your support! 🐢🌎 🌟🐢🌟

Great news! We met with Tortugas Pedasi today to deliver the funds we raised to help with their research.
They are currently working on geo-tagging nesting turtles and recording the information. They have discovered some behaviors that will enable them to improve conservation efforts.
The tracking equipment and tracking are expensive; your donations are directly impacting the future of these amazing sea creatures.
Please don't forget our GoFundMe is still active! Donate here: https://gofund.me/e00f225f .
