Balli Kaur Jaswal is a Singapore-based novelist with family roots in Punjab. Her first novel Inheritance won the Sydney Morning Herald's Best Young Australian Novelist Award in 2014 and was adapted for a film at the 2017 Singapore International Festival of the Arts.

Her critically acclaimed third novel, Erotic Stories for Punjabi Women, was released internationally by Harper Collins in 2017. Translation rights to this novel have been sold in France, Spain, Italy, Israel, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Greece, China, Brazil and Estonia.

In April 2019, published her latest work, The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters, which was already featured in the Chicago Tribune’s list of 10 books to read in April prior to the book’s release.

Currently she is working on her latest novel.

Chloe Wang is a maker and founder of Cocoonese. Recently I had an opportunity to do a photo shoot with her and bring out her entrepreneurial spirit. As a creative person, it is important to support each other during the time of Covid-19.

"My journey began in 2015, when I was armed with just a sewing machine, some fabric and plenty of ideas from my friends and I. I started making bags and ornaments to be sold at flea markets. What started as an interest soon turned into a passion. In 2018, Cocoonese was officially launched with a series of exquisitely designed items made from fabrics using handcrafted silkscreen prints. Cocoon Maker Workshop officially began conducting workshops in 2019. We offer Kiss Clasp bag making workshops. Students are welcome to attend workshops at our Katong studio. We also work with various organisations to conduct bag making workshops at youth clubs and senior activity centres.

In 2019, we were also invited to collaborate with the Singapore department store, TANGS, which is a major milestone for us. You may also find our bags there. In addition to the increased recognition for our creations, we expanded our consumer base and a retail space in the middle of Singapore’s main shopping district, Orchard Road.”

In 2019, Lisa decided it was time for a new adventure in Asia. After selling 90% of the things she owned, she packed her bags and relocated to Singapore to look for a job.Currently she is working in a local non-profit organisation.

Lisa is now living as a minimalist with most of her belongings being plants. Back in Europe, she completed a degree in Photography Research, to analyse photographs in an artistic, historical and sociological context.

As a son, brother and father, Uncle Kyaw worked very hard to provide for his family. He used to work for a Singapore shipping company in the 80s before relocating to Japan. In the late 90s, he returned to Myanmar and started his car dealer business. Inspired by his sister. he founded Linn Food Center, which has been running since 2003 in the Thingangyn township.

Recently, Uncle Khaw celebrated his 25 year wedding anniversary with his wife. His son is now pursuing further education in Singapore. Happy Father's day Uncle Kyaw!

Dhanya recently graduated with a double major in Economics and Political Science at in Massachusetts. Due to the pandemic, she wasn’t able to travel to US for her graduation ceremony. She celebrated her graduation with her family in Singapore and through virtual graduation with her classmates.
