"No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time.

There is only a q***r, divine dissastifaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others." - Martha Graham

On January 20, 2026, hundreds gathered in front of the main branch of the NYC Public Library on Fifth Avenue to protest the first year of Trump’s second term in office. The crowd’s call to action asked the public to join nationwide protests planned for the 23rd and stand in solidarity with the twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. Since the commencement of DHS’s Operation Metro Surge in early December, Good and Pretti, both US citizens/civilians/protesters, have been shot and killed by immigration enforcement officers.

About last night...

Patti Smith, Lenny Kaye & Jesse Paris Smith performed in the most gorgeous of intimate settings, St. Ann & The Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights. (By far the coolest thing to happen in Brooklyn Heights)

Between songs, Patti read passages from her new memoir, "Bread of Angels" and it was perfect. Punk Priestess. Icon. Shamen, Artist, Badass....An iPhone can only do an evening like this so much justice.

Thank you for kicking down doors Patti and showing us how to live an artist's life.

Thank you Books Are Magic for collaborating with St. Ann's on programming a FAB event!

Congratulations to Carol Guzy and David Dee Delgado for their inclusion in Time Magazine's Top 100 Photos of 2025!!!!

I've had the honor of photographing along side them both in the Immigration Courts at 26 Federal Plaza. I am in awe of their unwavering dedication to shining a light on ICE's activity, sensitivity in giving a voice to the voiceless, and humanizing the families that are traumatized by family separation. I aspire to their level of excellence and professionalism.

Halloween (better late than never edition) Pt. 2

I fell in with a band of merry pranksters and their local friends who drove the “Carcroach” all the way from Detroit, MI to participate in the NYC Village Halloween Parade. Thanks for letting me tag along, Riley!

Barbara “Barb” Bern grew up in northwest Chicago with a single mom and two much older siblings. Money was scarce; she was often alone. When her sister started dressage lessons, an ember began to glow within her heart. “I was drawn to horses,” she said. “I was always going to live in Kentucky because of the horses.”

Last week I challenged myself in ways I could not have imagined and participated in The Mountain Workshops in Maysville, KY.

Thank you to Shannon Eblen and editing teammate Melissa for the encouragement and tough love when I needed it. Thank you to the warm and friendly people of Maysville, KY, and dedicated caregivers at Mason County Animal Shelter.

And absolutely not last or least, thank you Barb Bern for your patience, grace and honesty. We are friends for life now-I definitely left a piece of my heart with you in Maysville, KY.

Two nights ago at a book launch in Carteret, NJ of all places, I saw Annie Lennox in conversation with V (Author formerly known as Eve Ensler). Two cultural and feminist phenoms just talking, like friends do.

V asked thoughtful and evocative questions and Annie was an open book. She shared stories not included in the book. She touched on her humble beginnings, early years in London and how she stepped into her own power and literally found her voice. Pro tip: she deployed the word “No” on the regular.

Annie laughed easily when looking back at her younger self. V asked about when Annie first felt comfortable calling herself a feminist, the origins of her humanitarian work, and her thoughts on aging.

Annie is as comfortable in her skin now as she projected in the “Sweet Dreams” video that played on repeat on MTV.
The common thread in all her stories was her conviction and belief in herself. And that she wasn’t willing to compromise her personal or artistic integrity no matter how much pressure she received from the music industry or society at large. She brings the same moral compass to her humanitarian work.

Her confidence was a beacon for Gen-X women like me. And she lit the path for all the female musicians that came after her. When I started singing it was Annie’s voice I tried to emulate. She continues to set the bar high with her global activism.

THANK YOU , THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

As seen at Temple of Dendur at The Met. Oct. 11. The couple had originally planned to take photos in Central Park but were forced to improvise due to rain. The Maid of Honor shared, “They need to be at the Synagogue in half an hour.”
