A funeral service for Glen Hansard will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday (August 4) at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. His family has asked that in lieu of flowers, well-wishers can make a donation to Dublin’s Simon Community (www.dubsimon.ie/donate), which provides aid to the homeless, or to Ukranian Action (www.ukrainianaction.com/donate).

For those in the tri-state area, a “Celebration of Life” for Mr. Hansard will take place at the Transparent Clinch Gallery in Asbury Park, New Jersey this Friday (August 7) throughout the day.

Bloc Party, English rockers formed in 1999 and hailing from London, opened for fellow countrymen Muse this past Saturday night at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York.

Co-founded by Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Russell Lissack (lead guitar), their current lineup also includes Louise Bartle (drums) and Harry Deacon (bass).

Known for their signature blend of electronica and house music, a 14-track record (their seventh overall) is scheduled for a September 11 release date.

Opening for Muse this past weekend at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater were The Temper Trap, an Australian indie rock band formed in 2005.

Comprised of Dougy Mandagi, Jonathon Aherne, Toby Dundas, and Joseph Greer, the quartet are touring in support of their fourth studio album Sungazer, released a few weeks ago.

The tenth show on a 24-date summer amphitheater trek across North America, Muse brought "The Wow! Signal Tour" to the majestic Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York this past Saturday night.

Nestled along the South Shore of Long Island and atop a stage built out over the waters of Zachs Bay, Matt Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums) delivered a 23-song set filled with anthemic tracks spread across a studio album discography spanning nearly three decades.

Eddie Vedder, in partnership with young people from Chicago-based Guitars Over Guns, has just released the original song “Better Believe.” Debuted earlier today during a live performance at the Obama Presidential Center dedication, all royalties will benefit Guitars Over Guns, an arts-based youth development organization that uses music, mentorship, and the arts to empower young people and expand opportunities for their future.
