Photos from the epic battle between Muggers crocs and Chitral deer, from last night’s Freshwater episode of Planet Earth 3 🐊🦌🌏

We spent an amazing month watching and waiting for this moment. Conditions in Yala National Park need to be absolutely perfect for this behaviour to happen, just dry enough that the deer have no other choice than to come to the only watering hole left in the area…where the crocodiles are waiting for them.

I have so much respect for both these species. The crocs ingenuity, cunning and patience vs the braveness, athleticism and crazy reaction times of the deer to dodge attacks when they are nose to nose with a 5m crocodile.

Hope you enjoyed the suspencful watch - now available on BBC iPlayer. More behind the scenes to follow!

Tonight at 8pm on BBC One - Frozen Planet II, Frozen Peaks 🏔

I’m so excited for everyone to see this. It was such a privilege to work on a film about my favourite places in the world, the mountains, and with such a great team.

Settle in for hunting eagles, lonely monkeys, playful parrots, hardy lizards and beautiful but startling imagery of our disappearing glaciers 🧊

4 days to go until the first episode of Frozen Planet II hits your screens!

It’s been an amazing privilege to work on such an important series with an incredible team over the last couple of years. I can’t wait for everyone to see it, it’s pretty magical ❄️

Happy to finally be able to share some photos from my time working on Meerkat Manor: Rise of the Dynasty. What an amazing start to 2020 this was, filming and getting to know these characterful animals over the weeks we spent with them in Southern Africa. More behind the scenes to follow 📷

You can watch Meerkat Manor: Rise of the Dynasty on Saturday nights at 8pm Eastern Time for all my US friends, as well as on BBCAmerica.com.

I saw a couple of days ago that puffins are already starting to return to Skomer and Skokholm to begin their breeding season. It’s a sure sign of spring being right around the corner, so thought it deserved a post to celebrate 🎉

(Featuring a very greedy puffin from Skomer, back in 2019) 🐧

So we’re nearly a month into Autumn and I still haven’t posted a photo of the rut!? Can’t be having that. Here’s a photo of a handsome stag taken a couple of years back in the ever so reliable Richmond Park 🦌🌳

Not long now before we’ll start to hear the unmistakable sound of a cuckoo calling as we enjoy our daily outing into the world 🐦 This shot was taken exactly a year ago today! I wonder if this one has made its trip back from its African holiday yet? 🌍
