Was so excited for this show, Man Ray: When Objects Dream at The Met. I knew of Man Ray’s work before I knew of Man Ray and before I knew about photography really. I had a postcard of his lip painting, Observatory Time The Lovers (not shown), on my wall along with the Glass Tears image. Years later when I had my own darkroom I would experiment putting together my own Rayographs I’d seen in books and had studied using whatever I had laying about. It was exciting and carefree and really more about the process than the outcome. If you could guess what it would look like would you still want to do it? Maybe the lesson there was about being comfortable with the unknown and being present with it ✨ Wonderful show - I think I shot every single item on display - one after another - Still lifes, portraits and even commercial work - great to see them all in one place.. One of the best exhibitions of the year. ⚡️📸⚡️

I swear these snapshots shoot themselves sometimes 🙃 This one of a water fountain - the muted coloration as though I were out to capture the scent of the damp park instead - was all there - so much of seeing is about simply being present ✨Have so many images to share with you - just can’t get to them all - focus is still on offline life. It’s an ever changing balance - a sort of sea sickness or the steadying of one’s bike as you ride - Can you relate? Eventually it levels out - eyes and mind open… we’ll be OK 🕊️
