The inspiration behind this digital photo book is the result of my personal journeys to China and the interest I developed in the country’s historic architecture. With the collection that I had earlier amassed of Chinese architecture photos from the 1920s and early 1930s, (traveling to 15 cities) I decided to re-photograph many of the landmarks and sights from those photographs and then to juxtapose them to illustrate changes in their appearance that have taken place over a span of nearly 100 years.
