Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught Aaron Siskind

What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.

Meet Shakespeare 🐾

They say the best things in life are worth waiting for, but I didn’t know just how true that was until September 5th, 2024—my birthday. That was the day I walked into the Animal League and walked out with Shakespeare. It remains the most memorable moment of my life.

Shakespeare isn’t just a handsome Coonhound and Doberman mix; he is a survivor in the truest sense.

His story started roughly. He arrived at the shelter back in January of ‘24 and spent the majority of his first few months fighting for his life in their Pet Health Centers, battling chronic pneumonia. Against the odds, this fighter recovered. But the battle left its mark.

Shakespeare was left with scarring that caused fibrotic changes to his lungs. It means he has to put in a little more effort to take those deep breaths that other dogs take for granted. But watching him handle it is the most inspiring thing. He knows his limits. He’s learned to “self-soothe,” taking a second to pause and catch his breath when he needs to before jumping back into life.

Time has flown by. He is now 2 years and 3 months old, and despite the scars on his lungs, his heart is completely untouched. The amount of kindness, affection, and pure love he shows me and my close friends is immeasurable.

Happy life, Shakespeare. Thank you for saving me right back.
