A glimpse into how I communicate with my retoucher.
I still remember when I used to retouch every image myself. I’d spend hours on a single photograph, and in a strange way, it almost felt like meditation.
As the years went by and work got busier, I eventually had to hand that part of the process over to someone else. But as an artist, having control over the final vision has always been important to me.
My retoucher mainly focuses on the skin, cleanup, and the technical details. The creative decisions, the color, grading, mood, and overall visual direction - still come from me.
Sometimes that means going back and forth quite a bit until every little detail feels right.
