Here is a homemade 2-light setup using two Genaray Trailblazer LED lights. For this shot, we positioned the key light just out of frame and aimed it at ceiling to soften it a bit, while pointing the second light at the wall behind the model to blow it out.

The Genaray SRL-10 Bi-Color Soft Ring Light LED employs 120 bright LEDs to generate light output with color that’s variable from 3200 to 5600K to match other fixtures or ambient light conditions while maintaining a high CRI/TCLI rating of 93 indicating faithful rendition of colors down to the subtlest hues. The best part? At only 1.25” thick, the ring light fits where other fixtures can’t go!

While most studio headshots come with rectangular or circular catchlights, I’m personally a big fan of irregular shapes and the lighting choices used to achieve that look.
