Behind the scenes from our Vintage Optics Masterclass with Mark de Paola // at the grand opening!

Participants explored a curated “menu” of vintage glass, pairing each lens with the Leica EV1 from & . Mark brought the knowledge and experience and Maiden Lane provided the perfect backdrop.

More than a class — it was a room full of photographers who care deeply about this craft and the tools the inspire and enable it.

Thank you to for producing, .kq for modeling, and for rounding out the experience with a selection of vintage watches that felt right at home alongside the optics.

We look forward to bringing this experience to Palm Springs and SoHo - NYC, and of course back to Maiden Lane soon.

Photography doesn’t always have to be complicated... and it probably shouldn’t be. Sometimes the best camera is the one you have.

Simple. That’s the word that best describes one of our favorite little photographic tools here at Camera West over the past year: the Fujifilm X-Half. There is something about the X-Half that removes the boundaries of taking a photo. Its compact size, limited features, vertical sensor, and sheer simplicity ground us every time it comes out of our pockets to capture a moment.

Join us in returning to the practice and enjoyment of simple photography. Put away your phone, your complicated camera with interchangeable lenses and loads of megapixels, and simply enjoy the moment with the Fujifilm X-Half. This is exactly what we intend to do on our Lunch Break, Thursday March 25th at Camera West San Francisco. Fujifilm will be joining us with 20 X-Half loaners. A few vignettes from inside our new Hasselblad boutique in San Francisco. We’re looking forward to hosting an in-store demo day as part of our Grand Opening festivities on Friday, March 27th, including hands-on demonstrations of all of Hasselblad’s latest gear, technical advice for Hasselblad X users and creators, and technical guidance on Hasselblad Phocus software. Hasselblad technical expert Brett Halladay will be joining us from the Hasselblad team.

No sign-up necessary. Simply drop in between 11am and 5pm at 120 Maiden Lane, San Francisco, bring your camera and your questions. This is a fantastic resource for anyone in the Bay Area currently using or curious about the Hasselblad XCD lineup!

Camera West San Francisco Update

We have officially moved out of our Walnut Creek location and are now setting up our new San Francisco flagship at 120 Maiden Lane.

We have experienced a delay with our cabinetry installation, which has pushed our soft opening to at least mid-next week. That said, shipping resumes today from Camera West San Francisco, and our team is available by phone at 925-935-1425 during normal business hours.

We look forward to welcoming you into the new space very soon. In the meantime, mark your calendars for our Grand Opening on March 27. More details to come!

A special thank you to everyone who came out for the Grand Opening weekend of Camera West – SoHo! We couldn’t be more elated to be part of such a vibrant community of photographers, creators, and collectors.

Throughout the weekend, we had countless incredible conversations with many of you about our shared passion for photography, and the stories we tell through the tools that inspire us most. All of us at Camera West SoHo left the weekend energized, grateful, and excited to reconnect with old friends and meet so many new ones.

The photography community is truly one of the most genuine, generous, and inspiring groups of people out there, and we’re so thankful to be part of one the most vibrant corners of that community in NYC.

As we settle into our regular hours and routine, we look forward to welcoming many of you back to the store, and connecting soon more of you. If you’re planning a trip to NYC, be sure to add Camera West – SoHo to your list of destinations to visit and stop by and say hello 👋
