Such an honor to welcome financial executive Dr. B to my studio. She flew all the way from Austin Texas to icy cold New York (definitely a different planet ❄️)! She is the woman who sits in the boardroom and commands attention with confidence. What a privilege to work with her! Huge shoutout to Tavia, our incredible stylist, and Elena, our talented makeup artist—together, we collaborated to bring out Dr. B’s powerful presence and stunning beauty. This session is a great reminder: when women come together, creativity, excellence, and confidence shine through (behind-the-scenes photos at the end).

They were commissioned by my client, Eli Cohen, to accompany his powerful artistic essays as part of an experimental project.

Eli founded The Spacious Human, a creative group with a bold and beautiful vision. He even did a TED talk x Flatbush show!

Tomorrow night is the photo show and book release party, from 6 to 9 pm.

I was honored to be invited to the Serica Trail Blazer Gala at 583 Park Ave. It’s rare to see New York’s Asian elite turn out in full force—stylishly dressed, mingling over clinking glasses, with nonstop performances. We were celebrating AAPI leadership across different generations. My photos were featured in the auction. I spotted former governor Elaine Chao and her father, “Tiger Mom” author Amy Chua, and fashion icon Yue-Sai Kan. Sadly, scientist Fei-Fei Li, the celebrated AI “Godmother,” couldn’t attend. I’m a big fan.

But the true highlight was meeting Maria Ressa (photo 5)—the fearless Filipino journalist, 2021 Nobel Peace Prize winner, and one of TIME’s 100 most influential people.

As the gala lights sparkled, I left at 10 p.m., slipping off my heels like Cinderella, left the palace-like building, and headed into the city subway. The familiar, grimy smell snapped me out of the dream and back into reality.

The glamour faded fast, but the message stayed: real change begins offstage, in the everyday. Back to my real life, there is work to be done!

I got a Harvard Business School online certificate for the Creating Brand Value course with Professor Jill Avery. It was only 6-7 weeks of online study, which is totally different from the in-person experience. Why did I do it? As a branding photographer, I wanted to better understand how to help people promote their brands more effectively and elevate my own to the next level. Never too late to start learning!
