Family Trail Day Session
Most of people who come to me, ask me for a "more natural shoot, no posed, spontaneous". I like it because that is my style.

But how to make it spontaneous when people know they will be photographed by a stranger and the most natural behavior is to not act naturally?

I always have the same answer: plan to do an activity you do often with your family. Anything you like to do together: cook a recipe, play any game, read a book, going out for a stroll, picnic time, beach day, trail day... Literally anything that makes (mainly) the kids feel comfortable and have fun - and I will capture the scenes of those ordinary, beautiful moments.

This one I shot in San Diego CA, on a trail/beach day and I love to do it!

Let the kids play. Let the kids be free. Let them be themselves. And enjoy the huge opportunity to photograph those fleeting moments. That's how I do.
I've read a text from another photographer I love about what is supposed to be a good photo when it comes to photographing family and kids. In her words:
"There is this myth that photo sessions have to be all about posing... That the photographers have to tell the people what to do in order to "look better". They can but, they don't have to. At the end, you look better when you are happy and having a good time. And kids definitely don't have a good time if you are telling them what to do."
I believe in it 100% and always let kids drive my photo sessions. They love it, the parents love it and I love it even more.
Which of those photos is your favorite one and why?
I love to hear your opinion!

Hello! I'm Talitha!
Welcome to my "home" on Instagram!
Once you are here I wanted to tell you a bit more about my story.
I am Brazilian and am part of a family of 3. My partner and I have a 4yo son and have been living in NY since 2014. We used to live in Brooklyn and when the pandemic hit we moved Upstate. So I've been living the country side life!
My background is in advertising and marketing and I started photographing about 3 years ago when I was home taking care of my son and looked back to my old work life and felt I didn't fit in it anymore (anyone else?). So I guess that makes me an entrepreneur/artist mom who wishes so much to follow her heart and thrive in her new career. A BIG call out to all out there!
I started off by shooting my friends and the city. I'm a huge enthusiast of documentary photography and also love to shoot portraits. So I decided to try a documentary approach in my photo sessions and catch more real moments, more of who people really are. And the results were unconventional, unposed, true to you and candid images. Which was exactly what I wanted to do.
I still have a lot to learn in the process but am happy with what I have already accomplished so far. Would love to hear from you about my work and get to know you and your story better too. If you want to connect, write down a comment or DM me. And thanks for being here!
