This is the second part of my FIRST EVER SERIES. It shows the flip side of an uneven friendship.. where the first entry showed a compassionate friend who thought nothing of helping the other out, this to me is a visual representation of the mindset of a friend filled with envy rather than care.

Each time I’ve seen a concept of money covering someone’s mouth it felt distant.. Why?
Because they all depict someone being silenced by it and though we all know it happens, it’s not the “everyday” world we live in.
When I think about the relationship we, as the general population, truly have with money, this is how my mind interprets it.. very few of us are ever in situations where we are silenced with money but most of us go through life navigating what it is we’re willing to do for money.. ranging from working, to doing favors, to putting up with experiences we wouldn’t naturally endure; money has more often been a means of loosening a person up to do what is desired, rather than shutting them up.
And this runs deep, with many of us not realizing just how much importance we actually put on money.. many say they love unconditionally but most ensure that a certain amount of money is present before even considering to have a crush, much less “love” someone which means that before the very inception of a relationship, money established itself as the first and most important criteria.
This concept is meant to provoke thought along these lines and help us understand our own relationship with money and the sway it has over our thinking.

The unedited version accidentally getting posted earlier was the best thing that could happen because I’d have probably procrastinated on posting it for the rest of January 😭
This is huge for me.. I know it may just seem like a simple image but for me it’s the first image of my FIRST SERIES! I always speak about wanting to create images that tell stories and I finally decided to do this series on Friendship. I love this shot and what it depicts.. it’s how I see friendship in its purest form. It involves no money, nothing grand.. just a willingness to help someone you care about and a joy that comes from being able to do so.. the location and method of help are both very important to this set but it may not be obvious from just this image so I look forward to sharing the next shot that will close out this pair.
To and who helped bring this to life and everyone else taking part in these and other series, know that I appreciate you greatly 🙏
