What if, instead of constantly looking at what other photographers are doing, we became obsessed with what’s right in front of us?

Our own towns.
Our own landscapes.
Our own people and culture.
The places we drive past every day that someone else might never think to photograph.

Create something you genuinely love, in the place you actually live, and get so good at seeing it differently that it becomes something people seek you out for.

Maybe another photographer sees your work and thinks, “My client would love what they do,” and sends them your way—rather than all of us trying to recreate the same locations, poses, concepts and trends.

There is so much value in becoming known for your corner of the world and the way you see it.

Make your surroundings desirable. Make your local culture part of your work. Give people a reason to travel to your town instead of convincing yourself you need someone else’s backdrop to create something meaningful.

We don’t all need to make the same beautiful thing.

We need to get really, really good at seeing the beauty that’s already around us.

Every now and then, I get to be a part of a branding photoshoot for a local business, and it always reminds me how much I love this kind of work.

Brand photography is a skill I’ve spent many years developing, even though I never chose to pursue it full-time. I only have availability for sessions like these a few times a year, which somehow makes them feel even more fulfilling.

There’s something so special about giving photographic life to a small brand—helping tell its story and showing the world just how amazing the people and products behind it really are. Especially when I get to photograph and spend the day with people who are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.

I’m constantly inspired by the talented people in this community, and I’m so grateful for everyone who showed up for Lauren and helped bring this vision to life. 🤍 M A D I S O N M. It’s such a joy to show up to a wedding venue that’s so naturally beautiful that all you have to do as a bride, groom, or guest is be yourself.

As a photographer, the most beautiful thing I have to offer you is my ability to be fully present with you—to photograph the intimate, interesting, fleeting moments unfolding in real time in your life. And that becomes so much easier when I’m not even the least bit worried about how the venue looks.

Victoria 1883 and their team absolutely cruising it, as always. So looking forward to another wedding season together!

Hi everyone! We did it! We have a new happy, healthy family member in the Anderson family and in the new Smyrna community. I’m looking forward to spending some quality family time till November. If you have a hard time reaching me for a booking that is why. People often ask what makes my work different when I’m photographing the same venue as everyone else.

The truth is… it isn’t the venue that makes my photos different.

We all have access to the same chapel, the same gardens, and the same beautiful light.

What changes is what we choose to notice, how we frame it, and choose camera settings that enhance what we want to show.

I’m not just looking for the “pretty spot.” I’m watching for the way your best friend tears up during your vows, the way your partner instinctively reaches for your hand, the laughter that happens between poses, and the quiet moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

I want your gallery to feel like your wedding, not just proof that you got married at a beautiful venue.

The venue is the backdrop. Your story is the reason I’m there.

Some sessions are not about the sail boats, the backdrops, the props, the outfits. 99% of sessions are about the energy you bring to the lens. The light you choose to share with me and the viewers of your images. We can plan all we want for the perfect shot or aesthetic but how you show up and what you choose to let others see can completely change the creative direction of a photo shoot. Planning is good and knowing what you like is even better but some magic can’t be forced a it must be embraced and experienced to seen.
