I usually take the month of January off (with a few cutie newborn exceptions) to reflect and redirect this little business of mine. Where have we been and where are we going?

WHAT A YEAR.

Thank you all — as always — for being here. I have felt all kinds of love in 2023. So many beautiful couples, families and new little ones!!! 🥹

As I reflect on this year there are just a few thoughts I’d like to put out into the universe

- people can imitate your style but they can never imitate your creativity. you don’t have to speak on it. people will notice.
- authenticity is magnetic.
- say no. as much as I’d like to say yes to every single session, I cannot. I’m a full time mama and a part time photographer. your people will understand and respect these boundaries.
- romanticize local sessions. sure, destinations are *dreamy* but there’s no place like home — in the backyard where your kids grew up.
- there’s no limitations or “mold” for scheduling a session. schedule a session for your grandparents wedding anniversary or your sons first birthday party so that you can enjoy it and truly be present.
- never be afraid of speaking out and standing up for your small business. sure it’s cool and polite to the bigger person but in the same breath, I’ve worked so hard to make this my own.
- it’s not cool to gate-keep session locations. help your photographer friends!!!
- less comparison.
- you can’t photograph them all.
- know your worth. there’s always going to be someone on the internet looking for a budget friendly photographer or someone who wants to complain about pricing but only YOU know how many hours you put in after the physical session is over to edit photos and more often than not, that’s on into wee hours of the night once my own family is fast asleep. why? because I truly want you to love your photos. I understand that it’s an investment.
- give yourself grace.
- say yes to photographing the things you love and no to the things that truly just do not spark joy.
