Today we recognize Juneteenth — a day that honors freedom, resilience, history, and the continued work toward equality.

On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they had been freed — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth has become a celebration of liberation, Black history, culture, creativity, and community.

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate locally, there are two major events to check out. Here in New Richmond, Friday, at 7pm, June 19th, Join the Juneteenth Celebration at Cranston Memorial Church. On Saturday, June 20th, 1PM, Ann Hagedorn will speak on TRUST AND TEAMWORK IN THE ANTEBELLUM BORDERLAND. Author of "Ulysses Underground" and retired Presbyterian minister Lisa Corum will give a lecture about Henry Boyd. Dr. Keturah Nix from Xavier University will talk about the history of Juneteenth. Music provided by the River Valley Interfaith Choir

In Cincinnati, the 39th Annual Juneteenth in Eden Park is happening June 20–21, 2026. This Cincinnati tradition brings together music, art, education, food, vendors, family activities, and community as we celebrate freedom and culture.

Sometimes the best moments aren’t planned. 🎸✨

A stranger walked into the shop, picked up one of our guitars, stepped onto the stage… and gave us a front-row seat to 30–45 minutes of rock, country, and pure joy.

No schedule. No spotlight. Just someone sharing the music.

And honestly? This is exactly why we built this place. ❤️

A space where people can walk in, create, connect, and feel at home.

Thank you for filling our walls with music. We hope this stage keeps telling stories like this for years to come! 🎶

🪴📚TOMORROW is the big day!!! Come out from 11-4 and celebrate the Grand Opening of our amazing new neighbors on Front Street, Ferns & Fables Books !!! We are so excited to welcome them & celebrate this wonderful occasion!! We hope you will join us and show them some love!! 📚🪴

We are 5 days away!! How is that even possible?

One second, I’m out on a morning date with Ashley, the next we are standing in front of a building that, little did we know, would soon be ours. From what we thought would be a distant dream, quickly became a reality when we least expected it. We weren’t prepared in that moment to make this drastic decision in our lives, but we knew we couldn’t let this pass us by.

Starting a business is terrifying, no matter how big or small. It’s expensive, especially in today’s economy. It’s a huge leap toward the unknown and pouring your heart and soul into something with absolutely zero guarantee of success. If I’ve learned anything during my time here on this floating rock, it’s that failure only comes when we stop trying. When we stop showing up for ourselves and what makes us happy. When we stop fighting for the things we believe in.

In such a short time since announcing our store, we’ve grown over 4,000 new friends here and have just been absolutely engulfed with love and support from our family and friends. We don’t take that for granted and will never be able to explain just how much it means to us to be seen and encouraged to chase our dreams. Thank you for being here.

Last week, we had a sweet pup walk past the shop needing a drink of water. 🐶All we had to offer at the time, was a coffee mug to drink the water from, but they didn’t seem to mind. Yesterday, we found this lovely bag and thoughtful note outside the shop and it reminded us again how wonderful our community is. We ran down to River City Pet & Farm Supply and picked up something more permanent for our 4-legged friends. Thank you again to our lovely neighbor for the sweet gift. Our “Shop Kid” has had a blast snuggling the stuffy & the bubbles are coming out later!! 🫧 Thank you! 🫶
