When I was writing my caption for yesterday's post, I started to say that I didn’t have many impressive before and afters to share because we haven't tackled the kicthen and bathrooms yet.

Many of our projects have been boring, think electrical outlets and garage door lifts. But then I was looking through old photos and happened upon a few of our home when we first moved in, and realized I was not giving myself enough credit.

Our living room is a space that has come a long way. Cieling texture, paint, flooring and lots of vintage finds later. Swipe to the end to see the before.

Ever since stepping back from photography, I have been channeling my creativity into my home. Collecting vintage and antique pieces, browsing Marketplace and local shops for furniture and items that bring me and my family joy.

I've considered sharing our space here for a while now, even went as far as changing the page's handle, but then my perfectionist tendencies held me back. You see, our home is far from complete. It lacks the grand scale of many of the home accounts I follow, but maybe that's what makes it special. It's a small fixer filled with pieces collected slowly over time, each with its own story.

When I changed the handle, I envisioned sharing little vignettes of our home and projects along the way. So, here goes nothing.

Here's a little corner of our home, unfinished baseboards and all. A funky historic green man secretary desk, family photos, a globe signed by our wedding guests, a souvenir from a trip to Mexico with one of my best friends, and my favorite evening light filtering through the glass.

It’s been a couple years since I really stepped back from photography. I still miss it sometimes, but I know it was the right decision for my family.

Since then, I’ve been channeling my creativity into our home instead. I’ve always loved interiors, "pinning" homes I love since high school, literally thousands of them, dreaming about what my own home could one day be. The way some girls dream about their fairytale wedding, I’ve always dreamed of home.

And it’s been so fun finally getting to bring that to life, collecting vintage and antique pieces with so much history and character, tackling DIY projects, making a space that hopefully feels more like a European cottage than a little ranch home in Florida.

I’ve thought about transitioning this page into more of that, but I keep holding off because I feel like everything needs to be finished first.

Anyone that knows me knows I tend to be pretty quiet and private, certainly a perfectionist, but I do miss sharing the things that bring me joy. Right now that looks like taking care of my family, making our home feel cozy and lived in, and honestly, fitness too.

So maybe instead of waiting for everything to feel perfect, I should just start sharing it anyway. There’s definitely some beauty in the process, too.

P.S. These are from one of the last shoots I ever did. I never shared because I was struggling with letting go of my business. BUT I am still proud of these and feel like they deserve to see the world.
