Harold Jay Taylor Perhaps the most controversial and disputed choice for last year’s “Ten Most Influential” list was Harold Jay Taylor. Harold made more posters, took pictures at more shows, and kept the truly terrible wrestling groups afloat and gave them
the trappings of dignity more than ever. The familiar Headlocks and Headshots purple watermark was seen on literally thousands of pictures, and it seems like the only posters you ever see are Jeff Brown’s familiar Anarchy posters, the West Evans PCW posters, the legion of Harold Jay posters, or absolute garbage. (Apologies to groups that have good posters of their own like Empire and APW). Harold Jay is the #1 presence at ringside of more shows than anybody – and the low-end groups that would stop using Harold, or come up short on their financial arrangements with him do so at their peril.

He chronicles any number of promotions in Georgia. It’s clearly a labor of love, though he’s managed to make a little business out of it as well, and that’s an influence on others. He blurs the line between fan/photographer/advocate in various wrestling promotions to great effect. There are some that would probably say how he is negative in some way, but the facts are this: chances are that you’ve gone to a wrestling show that Harold did the poster for. Chances are that Harold’s taken your picture. Chances are that if you are anybody on the scene, you know who he is. His pictures are the ones others measure theirs against. His posters also.
