💜⭐ Joseph Welty Middle School has earned the Purple Star Designation!

Joseph Welty Middle School received the Purple Star Designation this year, just one year after New Philadelphia High School earned the same recognition. The Purple Star Award is a state-sponsored recognition given to military-friendly schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting students and families connected to the nation’s armed forces.

This year, Joseph Welty Middle School and New Philadelphia High School hosted a Veterans Day breakfast for relatives of students who have served in the armed forces. There was also a special high school basketball game where veterans were recognized, and the team wore special warm-up shirts honoring veterans. In addition, Welty students wrote more than 450 letters that were sent to active-duty members of the armed forces.

These meaningful efforts and acts of appreciation helped Joseph Welty Middle School earn the distinct honor of becoming a Purple Star School. We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their dedication to supporting military families and honoring those who serve our country. ❤️

🎆 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐒! 🎆

Every year during our First Town Days festival we have an amazing firework show at Tuscora Park! This year it will be 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝐩𝐦.

Here is all the information you need ⬇️⬇️⬇️

𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: Fireworks will be launching off on the practice field, which will be blocked off. Good seats are on the baseball field, bleachers at the amphitheater, and even around the lake on Lakeview Rd.

𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜: PARKING WILL BE ESPECIALLY LIMITED THIS YEAR particularly near the Al Maloney Stage and Hillside due to proximity to the launch zone. Parking will be extremely tough due to the festival, but there is always the front parking lot located by the pond, parking near the softball field, and street parking.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙢 𝙄 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜?: Blankets & chairs are allowed. Be sure to get here early to grab your spot!
