The towering headframes of Butte, Montana are more than relics—they’re monuments to the city once known as “The Richest Hill on Earth.” Copper mined here fueled America’s electrification and transformed modern life. I photographed this scene beneath an approaching storm to capture the power, history, and enduring presence of a landscape that helped shape a nation.
