I think most people don’t read captions, so my account probably seems like it’s mostly just a bunch of photos of the same person. So yeah, she’s my favorite person to work with and we’re married, so photos are gonna happen, but if you read the captions I tell you what old camera or lens I used as well as the and developer combination. These are all interchangeable variables and different combinations will give different results. Interesting and useful stuff if you’re into film photography or thinking about starting yourself, but I don’t think this information has largely broken through to the target audience out there. I definitely have a few of you here who appreciate these things, and I greatly appreciate you, but for most people my posts are probably eye rolling. (I.e. “Ok dude, we’ve seen your wife.”) I guess I get it if you’re not into stuff like the following: These were shot using repurposed surveillance film used in security cameras, except I put it in a vintage 1965 Japanese camera and developed it using instant coffee. Come on, how cool is that and where else are you going to be able to see the results of that specific combination of camera/lens, film, and developer? If this stuff interests you, I hope you’re seeing this.

This is a two part post. The first is that her hair reminds me of cute little cat ears, so happy - The second part is photography nerd stuff. I bought 100 feet of Ultrafine Xtreme 400 film in the hope of finding an inexpensive emulsion to shoot at iso 3200. This is a frame from the test roll. I need to shoot more to get a solid opinion, but since 3200 speed films are very expensive, I think I’m going to be happy with this much less expensive option. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Fun facts: The hat was made by union workers in New York in the early 1960s. The camera lens used was made in 1948 Germany, and they’re both still in perfect use in 2026. Built to last.

Just paid $20 for a third Ricoh Hi-Color 35 camera, making it 10x more expensive than the $2 thrift store dress featured in these photos made with said camera. It’s how we afford our rock & roll lifestyle.
