While writing about the transition between older work and How to Make a Ghost, I realized the work hadn’t changed subjects but had instead changed methods. What I once saw as separate bodies of work now feels like different approaches to the same investigation.

The old swamp, revived, swelled around me while sheltering in a damp Italian style tomb. I wondered if God made man in His image then it would be light. To me it’s fable but like many experiences, it’s one that refuses to steal away into the void of my consciousness. What if?

This body of work began 6 months ago. A playful exercise; a doodle refined into an unconventional statement. Thanks to for capturing this quiet moment during closed hours at the gallery before it was unveiled on May 1.

These photographs are less about documenting a place and more about what happens when memory, atmosphere, movement, and expectation begin to collapse together. The image shifts between apparition and landscape depending on how long you’re willing to look at it.

A fog exhales its first breaths for the co**se of an ancient swamp; a memorial to one who lived long ago slowly slouches into its spectral remains. I walk past ruins under “the indifferent stars above”. Never alone for I am always among ghosts.
