Very proud to have been a (very small) part of this incredible piece of art. Believe something so revealing and true was achieved and I’m just happy to be able to experience it. DogTown (2020) is out now.

Hi, excited to announce that I directed a short film this year and it’s going to premiere at New Orleans Film Festival. I’m really thankful for everyone who acted/worked on this, and I’m very happy for people to be able to see it soon.

I figured that I’ve spent enough time at the aquarium to feel it fits in with the other two images. I guess they’re all these things I’ve seen so often, but like I said re-evaluated. All these photos are very personal, even if they’re rather removed. They’re all very evocative to me, and I’m proud of having been able to do that without having to have someone in the scene. They’re these quiet, uninhabited photos that nevertheless I can almost hear.

Been trying to reevaluate the space immediately around me. Taking photos of what I see everyday but have always just ignored. This (and the last photo) have been views from my apartment. Forcing myself to find compelling ways to shoot what I’ve so often seen.

Very tired of formalism in photography. Don’t get me wrong, so many very formal, traditional photos are nice. But I feel like every time a photo sticks with me it’s very against the grain. Anyway. Just think that’s one of the most important elements to taking good photos.

This is an image that I’ve come back to probably ten times since I took it. I just can’t stop tinkering with it, fixing it bit by bit. And, it’s finally in this form. Which. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken. It’s just so striking to me. And I feel I’ve finally gotten it exactly how I envisioned it on the day I took it.

It’s generally been super gratifying to try and get used to doing work so outside what I regularly do, and I’m super happy with what I came up with. But it’s also tough to start off with such high expectations of where I want my work to be at, then have to start from zero in a new style. I’ve grown really happy with this work though.

I’ve been trying to be less restrictive with photography recently. Just sorta freeing myself up to take whatever. This was one of those pictures. And so far it’s been really rewarding.
