A narrow bayou south of the city.
It’s 1am, and I’ve been out on the water all night.
The moon is high now, laying its cool blue across everything.

I was ready to go back.
I was ready to be done looking.
But I just had to.

I brought a warm light from the far side to hold the boats against the shadow.
Those lights on the horizon, the Mississippi, not even a mile away.

When you live with the water, it’s best to keep good company close.

Twenty-two years ago, I started showing my photographs at Jazz Fest. Ten years ago, I opened my gallery on Royal Street. And somehow I’m still staying up all night getting the work ready. Something about late nights helps me find my creativity.
New work is hanging at the gallery during first weekend. I’ll be showing at the Fest between the blues and the jazz on second weekend.
These photographs brewed in the kitchen of my late nights my whole life, but they didn’t find their life until Jazz Fest brought them to you.
I hope to see you somewhere out there. If nothing else, dancing with David Byrne. FEST FEST FEST!
