Darren Trentacosta is a photographer and consulting creative director with 38+ years of experience, living and working in NYC, Paris, Milan and now returning to his beloved hometown of New Orleans. Darren attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Otis Parsons in Los Angeles, graduating with a focus on photography and fashion design. Darren’s key focus is transforming concepts into vi

suals that leave a lasting impression. Over the years, he's collaborated with a range of clients—Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and philanthropic foundations. His diverse portfolio includes everything from a workforce development program for women in prison, fashion and commercial print photography, development of a women’s apparel line sold globally, acting partner and creative director for a vodka brand, celebrity talent management, reality TV and even a jazz museum. Around the late 90's, before moving to Paris, Renee and I had a job together shooting Milanese designer Davide Bazzerla and his new collection featured in V magazine. True to form I shot the entire job in 4x5 Polaroids. As you can see Renee's makeup was sublime, zero retouching here. 3 lights, one backdrop and a 4x5 camera. Done. Unfortunately I dont recall the models name, agency or what studio we used that day.

Gorgeous spring day in New Orleans. Jennifer and Mark, avid tennis players, came in from Madison, MS for a wedding for two. Everything about the moment was picture perfect. Shot at the Miami Indian sculpture garden at City Park's Botanical Gardens.

I'd moved in with Catherine after getting stuck in NYC due to 9/11. Afraid to get on a plane back to Paris. Got to work right away while the city was still reeling from what happened. The fear was so real on the streets. On the subway we watched each other looking for signs of mischief. They warned subways could be a target. Mary and I got to work, one light, black backdrop, gorgeous model, shot on Polaroid. Thank you Vogue Italia.

Arend, first assistant to Hubert Givenchy in Paris explained to me the process he went through having the exact amount of glass beading on his fabrics. He was amazing to watch. Shot in Arend's studio in the Montrose of Houston where Arend had retired, to be next to his sister. As usual Sarah gave life to everything she wore. Avelina dusted her perfectly.

Vassilis and I were starving for creativity at the end of the Covid epidemic. We needed to create to stay grounded. When I showed up to his apt on 36th & Madison he was baking Greek pastries for the holidays. There was no mood board, he just went to work. Rena showed up & showed out...giving life to our ideas. I fell into a zone with photoshop. I felt satisfied and drunk on the energy of fashion.
