The perfect time for photos isn’t always sunset. It’s the time that works best for your family.

One of the questions I get asked pretty often is, “Do we have to schedule our session at golden hour?” Golden hour is beautiful, but it’s not the only time we can create gorgeous images.

This family session at Harkness Memorial State Park was photographed a little before golden hour, at a time that worked better for a preschooler’s schedule and bedtime. And honestly, I think the results speak for themselves.

One of the things I love most about family sessions is creating a mix of images: the classic portraits everyone wants for the wall, along with the candid moments that truly tell the story of your family. This session had all those moments: The laughter, the snuggles, the little hands reaching for parents and grandparents, and even the family dog joining in on the fun.

At Brenda De Los Santos Photography, Pride isn’t just a month on the calendar. It’s people I care about, couples who trust me in capturing their love, families I have the privilege of photographing, and a community I am honored to support.

Over the years, I’ve photographed beautiful q***r weddings, joyful family sessions, and countless moments of connection, celebration, and love. I’ve also had the privilege of working with for the past five years, providing photography for many of their events, including New London Pride.

Prom season is still going strong and I am in awe of what a gorgeous couple these two make! I took photos to mark Jaida’s sweet sixteen a couple years ago and it was such an honor to capture this milestone for her and her date as they close out their senior year of high school. They are simply stunning!

Summer portrait season is just about here, and I’m so excited to announce two special seasonal offerings that are now open for booking:

☀️ Weekday Summer Beach Sessions: These relaxed weekday evening sessions are perfect for families, couples, maternity, seniors, or just updating your own photos while the shoreline is at its prettiest. Think warm sunsets, sandy toes, salty air, and those soft summer colors we only get this time of year in Connecticut.

Beach sessions will take place on select weekday evenings throughout the summer and are intentionally limited so I can catch the best light and tides.

💜 One Day Only: Lavender Minis at Lavender Pond Farm
I’ll also be offering a very limited day of mini sessions at the beautiful Lavender Pond Farm on July 1st! These sessions are short, sweet, and perfect if you’ve been wanting updated portraits surrounded by gorgeous blooming lavender fields.

These minis tend to book very quickly because the bloom window is short and the setting is absolutely magical.

I don’t normally post my own personal photos on here but these are so perfect I couldn’t NOT share them!

Prom season officially kicked off for my nephew last weekend for his girlfriend’s prom. We met up at Ledyard Sawmill Park where this tiny little footbridge looked straight out of a fairy tale, and honestly the navy + gold color combo could not have been more perfect there.

As an aunt, it’s really special getting to watch him soak in all these last big senior year moments. I’m excited for all the fun still ahead this season, but even more excited for everything waiting for him after graduation.

And the best part? We get to do it all over again this Saturday for HIS prom!

I can’t believe I haven’t had a chance to share these until now! Sarah and Taz had the most beautiful intimate winter wedding in Mystic earlier this year. Despite the cold temperatures and rain, they still had some of the loveliest photos of the day and portraits after their ceremony. It was such as fun wedding day!
