August’s Lunar Eclipse.
I finally finished editing all the photos needed to produce this image, and I’ve finally created the lunar eclipse photo I’ve wanted for years. Each attempt would come up short for one reason or another, but this one took. I was even able to obtain a much-desired Star tracker from the wonderful people over at National Camera Exchange (shout out to Hussain) just two days before taking this. Each phase of the Moon is a stack of nine tracked images (27 for the peak eclipse image in the middle). I had a blast playing with my new toy and can’t wait for more opportunities to use it!

Under the sunlit flowers.
Obviously I’ve been holding onto this photo for a while, but we’ve been so busy and I’ve kinda fallen off posting in the last 6 months.

This spring my focus for the flowering trees around Minneapolis was to shoot towards the sunlight to try and get that ethereal look. This was by far my favorite photo, made even better by the random girl walking beneath the boughs.

Tulip Glow Up
A yearly tradition in our family is heading over to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in the spring for the tulip blooms. One of my favorite parts of this tradition is trying to find a photo which is different from all the others I’ve taken over the years. It’s not always easy to find it, especially since we always seem to go on the sunniest of days. This one, though, stood out to me. It stopped me in my tracks and I only needed a few shutter clicks to get one I liked. Another successful year.

Spring butterflies.
After a pretty long absence that started with the invasion of Minneapolis, I’m finally back to taking photos. One of my first outings this spring was at the Butterfly House at the Dow Gardens in Midland MI. It was a great opportunity to photograph some elusive varieties of butterflies we don’t see out in the wild that often.
It’s taken a while to get that artistic spirit back after taking a break in January, but the itch is back. I look forward to sharing more springtime photos in the near future.
