If only more women realized how beautiful they already are.

I spent time talking with a lot of women, and it struck me how many of them don’t see themselves that way. So many are waiting for a future version of themselves before they’ll allow themselves to appreciate who they are today.

And while I absolutely believe in having goals and working toward them, this version of you is beautiful, too. I know I'll probably spend all of my days on this earth trying to remind or perhaps convince women every chance I get just how incredible, strong, and beautiful they already are.

The art hanging on your walls… Who is it? A landscape? A painting? A photograph of someone you’ve never met?

Why do we so easily make space for art in our homes, but struggle with the idea that we could be the art too?

Why shouldn’t you be the photograph hanging on the wall? Why shouldn’t your story be preserved? Why shouldn’t this version of you be remembered?

You are a work of art. Maybe it’s time you saw that too.

My goal in every session is to capture your essence… but even that feels too clean a way to say it.

It’s not like you walk into the studio as one solid, defined version of yourself… no one does. And it happens every time, as we move through the session, different sides of you start to show up. The version you recognize right away or the version you choose to let people see. And sometimes… the version you didn’t even realize was there or still there.

My joy in this profession comes from paying attention to it all. My job is to document these versions of you that show up so you can see yourself in a way that feels true to you, all versions. So here’s a friendly reminder that this current version of you deserves to be remembered. 🤍

A little departure from the women I usually photograph and share.

This is my middle daughter.

I find myself thinking a lot about how fast this all moves… like I’m already aware this version of her won’t be here forever.

I try to talk to her about documenting her life… not necessarily in some perfect curated way, and not just through photographs, but in whatever way that feels natural to her. She happens to love drawing, so I've seen the self-portraits she's created.

Let's be real, some of these photos are for me. I’m not even going to pretend otherwise. And some are for her… for later. When she’s older and maybe wants to look back and actually see herself as she was.

All of it matters. To be remembered… Even the parts that don’t feel like anything special right now.🤍
