Socks in sandals, really? Who does that? This guy, sometimes when my lil piggies are chilly!
I'm back home in Dover now. The past couple of weeks have been filled with lots of editing real estate images and catching up on correspondence when I'm able to. I have thousands of images to go through from my trip out to Missouri.
I haven't even peeked at the folders of files that I created for fun yet, it's all been work related editing since my return. Do you realize how hard that is?!!! I'm sitting on some of the best work that I may have created up to this point and I haven't been able to play with those photos yet. The level of patience this kid has is immeasurable!
This is not a complaint by any means at all. It's been really nice to be able to stay busy while so much heaviness is weighing me down from within.
Overall I would love to report to you that I'm doing rather well, emotionally, for someone who has gone through what the recent months have had to offer. A LOT of loss.
Without going into details, there was the loss of my mother followed by the loss of a dear friend and supporter of my work upon my return home. Then I got news of a step grandmother having a stroke and an aunt hitting the road to battling stage 3 cancer. I also lost a great aunt on my father's side. I was packing for my flight out to Missouri to say goodbye to my mother when I was informed. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a connection to that aunt, though. She mothered my biological father for some time. Needless to say, it's still another loss.
I was "that guy" who was a sobbing mess throughout the majority of the airtime and drive home. As soon as the lights went down on the plane, so did the tears.
So, work is nice. I appreciate a good distraction when it's welcomed and this is a good time for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm facing the feelings head and heart forward, but I'm doing what I do well, to heal through the process. Photography and video work.
This post is mainly to express the fact that I can't wait to begin dropping the fun stuff from this last trip. There was so much to it, that was fulfilling in the photography sense. The anticipation of sharing the adventures with you is electric!!!
There's much to come, but work stuff has to go first...
While in Missouri, my cousin and her husband have been successfully expanding their community with new housing opportunities for lower income families and more. They take what would otherwise be dead land, and make it a liveable neighborhood.
They helped me to fund part of my trip out there by having me photograph their air bnb in Waynesville called, Hillside on Benton. It's beautiful!! I'm about to drop them their images!
