I first began Photographing as a 13 year old....Yes...I was THAT kid. Upon getting my first job at 16, my friends were saving for cars, I was saving for my first B&W Enlarger and pestering my Dad to let me build a Darkroom in our basement in Buffalo, NY. After taking all the Photography classes available in High School I applied, and was accepted, into the Professional Photography Program at the R
ochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY. Upon graduation in 1985, I took a job at a Civil Engineering Firm in Atlanta, Georgia working in the Black & White Darkroom producing huge mylar areal photos of hurricane damaged coastlines along the Gulf Coast. With the pending birth of our first child, my wife and I decided to relocate closer to Family in Norwich, NY...where I opened my first Studio, S.Weitz Photography in 1991. The early years saw quite a bit of Advertising Agency work in Food and Small Product Advertising Illustrations, as well as Architectural Photography for large Project Mgt Companies such as Whiting-Turner, Turner Constr., and Skanska. Projects included Sun Microsystems in Boston, MA, IBM in Cambridge, MA, Walter's Art Gallery in Baltimore, MD, Cornell University, Yale University and many, many other projects in varying locations across the US. I was a Member of the NASFM (National Assoc. of Store Fixture Manufacturers) and travelled the US shooting Retail and Corporate Interiors for many Clients. Also in the early '90s I had the opportunity to photograph sideline for the Buffalo Bills during one of the most prolific times in the Team's history. I also became a Lead Photographer for Colgate University and the Patriot League in NCAA Athletics. A highlight was in 1996 when I Designed, Photographed and Produced the Colgate Football Media Guide which won "Best Cover" for all NCAA Publications Nationwide. By then the Architectural Photography was beginning to pick up and a lot of my shooting seemed to be in NYC and featured Restaurants, Retail Establishments and Cafes. Then came that fateful day...September 11, 2001. After personally knowing folks who perished in the Towers that day, and the sudden halt of large construction projects in the Northeast, it was time to move to a warmer climate. My Wife and I, along with our two children, came to San Antonio in August 2002 without so much as a visit. We knew nothing of the area and weren't sure what we were supposed to do. In December 2003, I applied to a newspaper ad looking for a Photographer for Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper Realtors. I began shooting for them on January 1, 2004 and won the "Employee Spirit Award" that same year...without even being on the ballot. I have always asked questions of what Realtors were looking for in Photography of their Listings, and most of all, I listened to what they said they needed. My approach to Real Estate Photography is to give my Clients what they were requesting in a way that they may not have seen before. I combine the traditional approach of thirty years of Architectural Photography with the latest techniques and a level of Quality that is unsurpassed in the Industry. My work is completely Custom in nature and can accommodate any Realtor or Team, in any Residential or Commercial setting. I reside here in New Braunfels with my wife, Janet, of over 30 years and have 2 adult children....a few cats, a dog and some birds.....lol.....Life is Good!
