The website changed. 1836 didn’t.
At least, not really.

This wasn’t about becoming a different photographer or suddenly deciding everything I’ve done before doesn’t fit anymore. If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ve already seen where this was going.

The color. The shaped light. The weird s**t. The big feelings. The dance floors. The photographs I build on purpose and the ones I catch because I happened to be paying attention.

I just decided to stop turning any of it down.

The new 1836 Photographie is more focused on the work I want to make and the people I want to make it for: people with taste, personality, and enough agency to make their wedding actually feel like theirs.

Keep the traditions you love. Peace out the ones you don’t.

I’ll shape the light when it needs shaping, give direction when it helps, and get the hell out of the way when the good stuff is already happening.

Electric. Editorial. Intuitive.

Same heart.
Louder on purpose.

The new site is officially live.

Here’s something you might not know about me…Every once in a blue moon, I’ll second shoot for another photographer - not because I need the work, but because I need the challenge.

When I’m leading a wedding, my job is simple: deliver. Every must-have moment. Every family photo. Every promise I made to my couple.

When I’m second shooting? That’s when I get to stretch different creative muscles.

I chase the weird lighting idea. I stand in the rain. I spend ten minutes making one frame that might completely fail…

…or become one of my favorite photographs of the year.

Those creative risks don’t stay in my second-shooter portfolio. They come back with me to every wedding I photograph.

Because the best photographers don’t stop learning once they’ve “made it.” They stay curious. They keep experimenting. They keep finding new ways to make people say, “Wait…how the hell did you do that?”

Huge thanks to Allison Jeffers for trusting me to make weird stuff in the rain. ⚡️

The best thing about this photo isn’t the photo.

It’s what it stood for.

One year ago, our Hill Country community was forever changed by the Kerrville floods. Not long after, a group of wedding vendors came together for Styled With Purpose - not to build portfolios, but to help raise money for flood relief.

That’s the side of this industry I wish more people got to see.

Behind the flowers, the dresses, the cameras, and the tablescapes are people who care deeply about the communities they work in.

I’m grateful to have been one small piece of that effort, and today I’m remembering everyone still carrying the weight of that tragedy.

Some images become favorites because of how they look.

This one became a favorite because of what it represents.

Some weddings have a dance floor.

Some weddings have that moment where the entire room collectively loses its damn mind.

The ties come off. The heels get kicked under a table. Someone ends up on somebody else’s shoulders. Nobody’s worried about looking cool anymore - they’re too busy having the time of their lives.

That’s the moment I’m chasing.

Because years from now, you won’t remember every song that played.

You’ll remember exactly how it felt.

If you’re planning the kind of wedding where your guests leave saying, “Holy s**t, that was fun,” we’re probably going to get along.

You don’t have to choose between timeless and fun.

You can have the elegant dress. The killer florals. The emotional vows.
And still throw a party that ends with sore feet, smeared lipstick, and someone yelling the words to Mr. Brightside (or whatever).

That’s my kind of wedding.

For the couples who care deeply about the experience and know how to let loose once the formalities are over. The ones who want beautiful photos, but don’t want a wedding day that feels stiff, performative, or curated within an inch of its life.

Give me the color. The personality. The weird little details. The chaos.
That’s where the magic lives.

I didn’t expect to fall this hard for micro weddings… but here we are.

The last couple years, more couples have been choosing smaller, more intentional celebrations…and honestly? It shows. In the energy, in the pacing, in the way the whole day feels.

Less pressure. More presence.
Less production. More connection.

When you’re surrounded by only your people, everything shifts. You actually get time together. You actually get to experience your wedding instead of racing through it. And from my side? The photos hit different - more depth, more honesty, more room to create without rushing you from one thing to the next.

It’s not about doing less. It’s about doing what matters on purpose.

Curious if a micro wedding might be your move? I broke it all down on the blog - go give it a read.

One thing that quietly makes or breaks your photos? Time.

Not more poses. Not more pressure. Just space.

A few minutes carved out before everything begins. While you’re still fresh, still grounded, still soaking in what the day actually means. Before timelines tighten and everything starts moving fast.

This isn’t about “one last single photo.”
It’s about giving yourself a moment to breathe… and letting me turn that into something intentional.

If you want photos that feel calm, elevated, and not rushed into oblivion - we plan for it, make space for it, and carve out the time.
