It's tails on Tuesday! Were you aware the the tail of alligators and crocodiles can be half their body length, if not longer? Look at the massive tail on this huge American Alligator I encountered here in the swamps of southeastern North Carolina. I estimated this gator between 10-11 feet in length, giving it a tail around 5-6 feet long! Such an amazing, and powerful, characteristic of crocodilians.

Welcome back y'all! How was everyone's weekend? Well, after many requests, the gators are back! The American Alligator is growing in numbers here in North Carolina, and I have personally encountered them throughout the entire eastern coast, from South Carolina, all the way up North close to Virginia. Throwback Thursday to a big, beautiful corn snake my daughter and I found soaking up some late evening sun on an old service road through the forest here in southeastern North Carolina. Its temperament changed quickly when I attempted to move it from the road.

It's Way Up Close Wednesday!! Look at that face! Even though this beautiful corn snake is completely harmless to humans and even looks like a cute little pet, they are powerful constrictors who do amazing work as rodent control on or near peoples residences. Taken in southeastern North Carolina.
