Lately I’ve been thinking about how creativity actually works… It almost never thrives in unlimited freedom.
It seems to flourish with constraints
Personally, I don’t have endless hours in a quiet coffee shop dreaming things up. My creativity has to live inside my real, everyday life- full of its own limitations- whether that’s time, money, or energy.
Right now, creativity for me looks like
✨slowly decorating our home within a budget
✨making kombucha, sourdough, vinegar and
yogurt and experimenting with flavors
✨reworking my wardrobe and playing with styles for my postpartum body
✨listening to an audiobook while my hands are planting lettuces and peppers
✨Squeezing in a hiking adventure with the kids
I literally CAN NOT stifle my creativity… it’s an innate part of how God created me- but my limits shape and refine it.
And I see that same truth in photo sessions (especially in-home sessions).
I’m not just showing up and hoping for the best. A simple plan, a bit of inspiration, a few activities give it shape.
built-in limits
And then using what’s in front of me- the light, your space, your people and piecing it together like a puzzle, creating something honest + beautiful.
Sooooo, what does creativity look like in your real, everyday life right now?? (Idc if it’s unhinged or whatever 😂I’m just nosey about my fellow creatives!)
