Haley & Jake // October 12, 2024

This Saturday I had the honor of photographing Haley's and Jake's wedding at Audrey's Greenhouse in Wallkill. The weather was gorgeous (which I feel the bride and groom deserved due to our rainy engagement session one year ago). The guests were decked out in their finest and ready to party. The staff at Audrey's were stellar; you truly couldn't have asked for a better venue. The timeline ran ahead of schedule, which is always a plus! And the bride and groom were obviously in love--the kind of love that makes you smile just to witness it. All in all, it was a picture-perfect day!

This was also the perfect event to end my career as a wedding photographer. As I've mentioned countless times, I was a HS English teacher before I started my photography business and, lucky for me, Haley was one of my very first students. Back then she was really into racing, so it was fitting that Haley and Jake entered into their reception to the sounds of a Formula 1 racetrack. Now it seems she is still into racing--and CATS! 😉 I feel like my former students helped me build my business into what it is today. They've hired me for all sorts of family sessions, maternity sessions, engagement sessions, and weddings. I'm truly grateful for their support. But it is these powerful connections which made me realize that teaching is my first love. I never stopped missing the classroom, and I decided to give it one last go before I got too old to miss my chance. It's for this reason that Haley's wedding will be my last. As I gave her a hug and walked out of the venue, it felt very bittersweet.

There is nothing better than love, and I thank all of you who trusted me to capture your version of it over the years. I've adored photographing all the fancy people in fancy venues around the Hudson Valley. I will miss it, but the classroom is where I'm meant to be. So thank you to Haley and Jake for seeing me out. You love is special and I'm just so glad I had the chance to document it for you. All my best to the newlyweds! 🥂

And all my best to all my couples! I was a photographer just as long as I was a teacher. I've been lucky enough to build two careers that I've loved in my life. But I could never have done this one without you. THANK YOU 💕

Danielle & Chris // September 21, 2024

Welcome, Fall!! 🍂🍂🍂

Yesterday was the perfect start to the fall season at the Curry Estate. The weather was beautiful, the grounds were lovely, and the bridal party was ready to PARTY (in caps because they took this part very seriously! 😉). As a vendor, I don't think I've ever had more fun at a wedding--or more food! I was treated like a guest by the six sisters who own and operate the estate. If I could get married again (same groom, lol), I'd choose the Curry Estate too!

I really cannot over-state how incredible it is to work with a bride and groom like Danielle and Chris. What sticks out the most to me is just how much fun they had on their special day! Details matter, timelines matter, making sure all photos are accounted for matters--of course. But, in spite of all the wedding "work," Danielle and Chris just radiated happiness. They were laughing 95% of the day, and their joy was infectious. Is Danielle a freaking model? Yes. But my favorite shots of the day are all the ones where Danielle and Chris are cracking up or smiling so big you can't help but smile back. May we all marry the person who brings us this much joy!

Danielle and Chris, I hope you love your sneak peek! And I wish you all the happiness this life has to offer. 🥂

Rebecca // Maternity

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing Rebecca and Eric at the Orange County Arboretum. They are expecting their first baby in September and, just like my last maternity session, they chose not to find out the gender of their little one beforehand. I'm finding these surprises all rather exciting--you can just tell the way it adds to the anticipation! We chatted about baby things, the difficulty of finding newborn outfits that aren't pink or blue, the expense of child care (heellllooooo, it's insane out there!), and ended up dodging raindrops as the session came to an end. All in all, it made for a lovely night with a lovely couple!!

Rebecca and Eric, I hope you love this sneak peek! You all are so photogenic; there is no doubt that your little one is going to be absolutely stunning!! Wishing you all my best these last few weeks as the anticipation to meet your new baby grows!!

Lindsey // Maternity

Whhhyyyy is it sooooo hoooottttt?!?!? Anyone else feel like they're traipsing through the jungle anytime they venture outside?! Oooof, it's been humid these last few days--so bad, in fact, that I made sure to check in with Lindsey just to make certain that she was still up for our maternity session last night. Most people understand that pregnancy and the summer heat are not exactly winning combinations.

And then there is Lindsey...

34 weeks pregnant, baby Dumond is measuring ahead of schedule, 90 degrees outside at golden hour, and Lindsey has the AUDACITY to not even have swollen feet!!!! How is this even possible?! Two words: Super. Woman.

If you've been 34+ weeks pregnant during a summer heat wave, you kind of understand how much Lindsey is rocking it!!

Surprise Proposal // Katie & Nick

The plan was as follows:

** Meet at Pennings Cidery in Warwick --the place Katie & Nick had their first official date

**I "run into" Nick and Katie at the venue; Nick recognizes me because I photographed his sister's wedding and says hello

**I pretend to be there to photograph another couple who are running late due to a fender bender on the way 🫤

**Nick casually mentions that Katie loves photos

**I ask Katie if she wouldn't mind posing for some photos with Nick as I scout the venue. Wouldn't want to waste my trip over 😉

**We head into the orchard and Nick pulls off the most sincere, romantic proposal I've ever witnessed!!

**Katie cries, laughs, screams with joy, and cries some more

Aurora // Maternity Session

As many of you know, I was a high school teacher in my former life. I met many different students in my time as an educator and I think the experience really shaped my views on parenting. I knew the kind of children I wanted to raise. I didn't care about raising the genius or the athletic star, the Picasso or Beethoven, I just wanted to raise the kind kid. The child that befriended the new student on their first day or stuck up for the person being picked on. Essentially, my goal was and still is to raise kids that act like Aurora's husband, Steven, did when he first entered my classroom in 10th grade. Steven makes a lasting impression because he's polite and genuine, thoughtful and kind. And now he is welcoming a daughter with his wife, Aurora, and I'd bet my life their sweet child will have the biggest, most loving heart in the world.

Brittany // Maternity Session

I hereby proclaim June to be "maternity month!" There seriously must be something in the water because there are lots of summer babies coming due 😉. And I'm planning on clogging your feed with one maternity session after another in the next few weeks!

I'm so pleased to kickoff "maternity month" with Brittany and Brandon! I always feel so honored when I get to document the big milestones in people's lives--and, with Brittany and Brandon, I was lucky enough to photograph their engagement and wedding too. So when I met up with them at their family's property to document their first pregnancy, it felt like reconnecting with old friends. 💙💙

There is nothing better than first time parent excitement. I loved listening to Brittany and Brandon talk about the baby's "Toy Story" themed nursery, their over-abundance of baby clothes, and all the last minute prep they have to do. It's such an incredibly special time--and I loved how real Brittany is about the experience. Is she glowing? YES! But is she over this whole pregnancy thing and ready to kick that big ol' pregnancy pillow to the curb? Also yes! 🤣🤣

Brittany and Brandon, you are going to be AMAZING parents 💕
I can't wait to see how you transition into this new phase of your lives and I'm wishing you all the happiness I can wish!

And I'm also crossing my fingers that "Glam-ma" hooks you up with the biggest and best sandwich as soon as that baby makes it's arrival!! 😉

Alexandra, Kyle, and Bruno // Two days later.... 🐾

My biggest advice for anyone planning a wedding is to DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!! (Notice the all caps, because I am THAT serious!!). Weddings, when they are a true reflection of the couple's personalities, are more fun, more joyous, more relaxed. When Alexandra and Kyle were planning their wedding, they knew one thing: Bruno, their sweet pup, had to be included!

However, logistically including Bruno in the wedding day proved to be impossible. Enter Alexandra's genius plan: What if we met two days later back at the venue dressed in full wedding attire and took formal portraits but with Bruno this time?! SAY LESS!! 😍😍

I'm not sure I've ever loved a session more!! And, judging by Bruno's face, I'd say he had a pretty sweet time as well!

Friends, follow Alexandra's and Kyle's lead and make your special day a reflection of what's most important to you! If you've got an idea, we'll make it work. And we'll make your photos something to truly treasure!

The Hunts // April 19, 2024

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Alexandra's and Kyle's wedding at the Villa Venezia. As many of you know, I had been taking time off to be present for my son who was recently diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome. While I have been working behind the scenes, Alexandra's and Kyle's wedding marks my official return and I couldn't be happier to share this day with all of you!

First of all, Alexandra speaks my love-language (type-A organization!). Wedding photographers are a bit like wedding planners--we work with our couples to create day-of timelines down to the minute to ensure everything runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. But with Alexandra, I'm pretty sure I wasn't really needed all that much. 😉 She was the first bride to ever present me with a family photo shot list complete with labeled photos of each family member---and, ladies and gentlemen, I'm here for it!! When our day started to run behind due to last-minute landscaping at the venue, that list saved the day and we got through more than 35 family photo combinations in about 25 minutes AND they got to enjoy their entire cocktail hour! Type-A personalities for the win!!

Secondly, Alexandra and Kyle were so kind, inviting, and just downright stunning! For me, wedding portraits are the best part of any wedding day and I could've photographed these two for hours (though Alexandra's Louboutins said otherwise!). Can we have a moment for those shoes though?! 😍😍 Pretty sure they were worth the pain--though Alexandra will have to have the final say on that!

Wedding days never go exactly as planned--even for the most organized among us. Alexandra's and Kyle's day had a few hiccups (even a little sprinkling of rain right as the ceremony began--hello good luck!!), but, to me, it was still perfect. Two lovely people pledged their love to each other surrounded by the support of their cherished family and friends--and what could be more perfect than that?!

I've decided to end my 2023 season a bit early this year. I want to thank everyone who trusted me to capture their memories; I truly appreciate your support.
