Mamas… can I let you in on a little secret? One of my very favorite things to document is motherhood.. especially the connection between mother and child. I know, I know… it’s so easy to schedule a photoshoot of your kids… why is it so much harder to schedule a photoshoot with you AND your kids?

I believe so much of the struggle is the fact that we as women are so hard on ourselves. Especially in a world where so called ‘perfection’ fills our feeds each day. We struggle with comparisons, we struggle with body image… it’s just so much easier to stay out of the shoot, out of pictures. Think about this: Do you think your child will care about what size you wore? Honestly… do you really think that the most important thing your child will notice in a photo of the two of you together is the fine lines that are forming around your eyes??

I want you to visualize a photo of you and YOUR mother together when you were young.. what do you feel, see, notice?? What do you reflect on when you see those precious memories captured in time? Your own children will reflect on the many things they love about you.. their mama.

Stop waiting for the ‘goal weight’…. Stop waiting for any physical ideal to reward yourself with a photoshoot of you with your kids. In the long term… who are these photos really for?? (Hint: It’s not just for you)

Well, it’s the first day of Spring Break and wouldn’t ya know it?? It’s a blizzard outside😩

Senior picture season keeps getting pushed back further and further.. my photographer friends in Utah can relate😅

Thank goodness there are fun locations even though everything outside is far from green😅

This session was so much fun, cute boys, fun location.. can’t beat it. This was a senior session for older brother but mom chose to add-on the younger two to get a few pictures of them too❤️

Is it obvious these lovers were photographed months ago?
Given the snow and frigid temperatures outside I’m guessing that’s a yes😅

Can I tell you.. looking at all the sessions I haven’t shared yet makes me so excited to emerge from my photography hibernation era.. aka December and January❄️

I haven’t officially opened booking through my booking site yet for this year, but I have started adding appointments for those who have reached out. March and April are booked, if you know you’ll be wanting a session in the next 6 months, message me and we can get you scheduled.

I’ve been a little MIA on this account recently.. it’s funny how there are ‘seasons’ in our lives.

My photography business and this instagram account took a lot of my time up until about 6 months ago.

I felt the pull to cut back on the amount of sessions I was taking on each week… not understanding completely why other than I was super busy… a lot of you know my full time job is being a special education teacher at our local high school, so photography is my side gig.. but I found myself putting in full time hours on the photography side of things in addition to my full time job.. so I felt the nudge to cut back.

Looking back now I can more clearly see the ‘why’. If you follow my personal account, you’ll notice I’ve been a lot more active on that side of things. I feel deep in my soul the need for me to be a voice for so many that need it right now (specifically those in the LGBTQ+ community). So that’s where I’ve been and that’s where I’ve been spending my spare time. 🌈❤️

To all of my clients, thank you for your business, your repeated business, and the support you show to me. I just sent off my last gallery for 2022. As far as my photography business 2023 will look very similar to the last 6 months, I’ll take on a very limited number of sessions.

Whatever season you are at in your life… I wish you the best. Follow your heart, and things will work out. It won’t be easy… nothing worthwhile ever is.. but it will be worth it.
