As promised, here is the Kirtland's Warbler. He is one of the rarest breeding warblers in the US, nesting exclusively in young jack pines in Michigan and Wisconsin (The Warbler Guide by Tom Stephenson and Scott Whittle). This one has the distinct white eye crescents contrasted with black lores, confirming he is a male. The bands were placed on him last year in Michigan as they are tracking their movement ecology.

I had to post just a few so far from the Best Birding week along the shores of Lake Erie with my sister and her girls. Had sun, wind, birds, great company and a fabulous time.
Pictures of the Kirtland's Warbler will be coming tomorrow. This one is banded as they are tracking their migration, and it was quite an exciting find.

Last night after work, I just went out back on the deck to watch and listen .... it really was a beautiful evening.

One thing about a spring (or near spring) snow is that it doesn't last long. This mornings' beauty is already melted. It started with the heron visiting my end of the lake.

It is beautiful to look at, but still a bit too slick for me to consider stepping outside the doorway.
