A LITTLE BIT OF MY STORY. A WHOLE LOT OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS. 🤍📸
When I look back at where I started as a photographer and compare it to where I am today, I honestly have a hard time putting it into words.
When I first started photography, I thought it was something anyone could do. Pick up a camera, take some pretty pictures, learn a few things, and there you go! I quickly learned that there is SO much more to it than that.
Photography takes time. It takes practice, patience, creativity, and a willingness to learn from your mistakes. It takes hours of editing that nobody sees, learning how to work with light, understanding your camera, figuring out your style, learning how to pose people naturally, and knowing when to step back and simply let a moment happen.
And then there's the business side. Marketing, branding, client communication, contracts, galleries, pricing, finances, and all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a photography business run. 😅
Over the years, I've spent countless hours learning, practicing, studying, making mistakes, trying again, and pushing myself to become better. My years in school helped shape me, but so did every session, every wedding, every difficult lesson, and every client who trusted me to capture something important to them.
I have grown so much, not just as a photographer, but as a business owner and as a person. When I look at my work today compared to where I started, I see more than improved pictures. I see years of dedication, countless lessons, answered prayers, and a whole lot of grace.
And through every single step, God has been there.
There have been seasons of uncertainty, moments when I questioned myself, and times when I wondered where this little business of mine was going. But God has continued to open doors, provide opportunities, bring wonderful people into my life, and bless Sparrow Photography in ways I could never have planned myself.
And that brings me to the name. 🥹🤍
Why Sparrow Photography?
Luke 12:6 says:
"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God." - Luke 12:6 (ESV)*
Sparrows are small, ordinary birds. They aren't the biggest or the most remarkable creatures in the sky. And yet, not one of them is forgotten by God.
That verse has such a beautiful reminder behind it: even the smallest, seemingly insignificant things are seen and remembered by Him.
I wanted my business to reflect that.
I wanted Sparrow Photography to be about more than beautiful pictures. I wanted it to be about the little moments, the quiet details, the fleeting glances, the laughter, the happy tears, and the people who make our lives what they are. The moments that might seem small today but become priceless when we look back on them years from now.
Because if God doesn't forget the sparrows, how much more does He care for us?
I want every person who steps in front of my camera to feel seen. I want to preserve the moments that matter, the people we love, and the stories that make our lives beautiful. I want my business to be a reflection of the God who has carried me this far.
Looking at these photographs, I am reminded of exactly why I fell in love with photography in the first place. The joy on a couple's wedding day. The laughter between two people who have built a life together. The moments that cannot be recreated, only remembered.
This is why I do what I do. 🤍
Sparrow Photography has grown so much, and I know there is still so much more for me to learn. I am proud of how far I've come, grateful for every person who has trusted me with their memories, and so excited for everything still to come.
Thank you to every client who has booked a session, every couple who has trusted me with their wedding day, every person who has shared my work, and everyone who has supported this little business along the way.
You have all been a part of this story, and I am so grateful.
Here's to growing, learning, creating, and continuing to capture the moments that matter most.
