When we print huge pieces, two test prints are pulled: one for color and one for size. The test for size is a mag test print, or a sliver of the final image to check for resolution issues. For this project, all the images were being printed on metal, so we did color tests on paper, then color and mag tests on metal. Which yielded a LOT of 8x10” metal tests. And, once we realized how they could be used, suddenly those tests didn’t just feel like essential data before a major run, they felt like tiles that could be reimagined into something new, slightly abstract, and beautiful.

The Germantown Hola Yoga is so calming and wonderful — and photographs like it was built for it. With Soma, their cool practice room with a wall of privacy-frosted windows, and Surya, their hot practice room with a glowing and gorgeous candle altar for their candlelit flows, the space offers classes without temp conversions but with the most gorgeous ambient light for whatever you’re moving through. It was a joy to document!

Attagirl Brands || a Nashville-based interdisciplinary design firm concentrating on brand research, strategy, and identity design to increase brand recognition and create spacial identities. Basically, once the space is designed, how does it become yours? Art, material repurposing, spacial branding, wayfinding, and corporate storytelling shown here across five client spaces.

As long as we’re jumping back to 2016, this was my favorite job from that year. We did a 10k mile road trip for without our phones: we used an atlas and a compass to travel the US with a few landmarks and locations on our itinerary but the only directions otherwise were to meet everyone, try everything, and take any recommendations or side trips that sounded good. And to document everything. The entire campaign was huge and we had to somehow balance the style portion, the narrative of travel, and the continuity of the story in a wild diversity of places. I shot it on digital, film, and Polaroids and it started my later relationship with . The travel landscapes remain some of my favorites to this day.

Had the very fun honor of photographing for her new website launch. We did a little something different for every season and, due mostly to her design chops and thorough credentials, the new site looks incredible. Glad always to photograph people in a way that makes them feel most like themselves but to do it for a friend always means a little more. 🎉
