February is the start of growing season. It’s the time of year I fill my seed trays and scatter the gardens with tiny promises of Spring. This year brings a different, coinciding growing season… our family is growing, too! We’re so grateful and happy to announce that ✨Baby Joyce-Sharber is due in August.✨

Since she could walk, Wednesday has tugged on her boots and ventured out with me to sow milkweed and cosmos in the bitter cold. Our New Year is the Spring Equinox when the Amsonia reappears as a puff of powder blue. By the time August rolls around, Will and I can barely see Fish and Wednesday as they run through the garden paths and disappear into the aster. This coming August will look a little different and we can’t wait.

I took a break from working earlier to harvest some seeds from the garden. It was the breather I needed, but now my leggings are fluffy and white from all the golden rod I had to walk through to get to the cut flowers. I’ll take it. But standing out there in this gorgeous autumn sunshine reminded me that I haven’t shared these photos yet. My garden is still buzzing with life, but by the time it all goes to sleep for the winter, this little baby will be born. Bring on the winter joy. 🤍

While I deal with this never-ending illness, let me take you back to this same month 3 years ago when Julia and Patrick eloped. There was bushwhacking from an ATV, a first dance by the bonfire in the pouring rain, frolicking in the fields, beers with the vows, and not a soul around. Happy anniversary, Julia and Patrick!

Emily and Patrick’s elopement photos are long overdue to be posted! I drove down to Alabama to a little town on the gulf for their big day. The town has special meaning to them, so they couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. They said their vows under a moss-covered tree while their immediate family stood around them. Emily was very clear from the beginning that she didn’t want anything fussy — she and Patrick wanted the focus on them and the moment. That’s what eloping is all about, friends. I’m honored that they trusted me to help them plan and document this day. They were laughing, relaxed, and eager to celebrate. Everyone deserves to feel like this on their wedding day.
