What I wasn't expecting this year...

Several of my Mommas emailing saying- "Well, Lauren, let's do one last newborn session...Because after this, our family is complete!"

Winter storm-where you learn 55 life lessons, grieve multiple losses, play “restaurant” on repeat, and realize these are pages that will definitely make your book.

After 78 hours, we have power. It’s still 38 degrees inside, our street is still closed, & we have a sick child, but super grateful for:

Parents 🙌🏻 for real……
Friends that have checked in like family.
A husband who knows how to do manly things..
A company that supported my husband’s choice to stay home.
Pipes that expand.
Sweat pants.
Funny videos of friends slipping on ice.
And so much more.

Like so so many more things to tell you…I’ve been taking notes!

Yesterday, I heard a line in a message that I want to share with you: “Don’t try harder. Come closer.”

Drawing closer and walking with God doesn’t always look the same. Each season carries its own rhythm and weight. If I’m honest, a lot of the difference isn’t Him…it’s me.

We all know what it feels like to be the child who runs ahead, the one who cowers back in fear, or the one who stubbornly sits down in the middle of the road-refusing to take another step.

But Jesus’ yoke-His way-is perfectly fitted for each of us. Not heavy. Not forced. Custom-made for the life He’s inviting you to walk. And He doesn’t hand it to us and walk away. He steps in beside us.

Some seasons, walking is steady. Other seasons? It looks like the third image here-blurry, out of focus, dizzying. The kind of season where simply standing back up feels like an act of faith.

And yet… God-rich in mercy, steady in His love-meets us there. He brings order to the chaos. He guides. He illuminates the path forward as we continue to show up, seek Him, and trust Him with what we can’t yet see.

These lyrics have been on repeat in my heart lately:
“And I’m gonna fix my eyes on Jesus
Walking with the One who walks on the sea
I’m gonna give my life to follow
Speak to me and I’ll go
Wherever You lead.”

Fixing my eyes on Jesus, I am making space to prepare for what’s next: The Presence & Pursuit Podcast, launching in spring of 2026. I type this with shaking hands and a holy reverence of the way God has spoken so clearly that this is actually happening 😳I am a “need a neon sign to make a move” kind of girl. While I’m working on dropping my nets and moving as soon as He speaks, the Lord has given undeniable confirmations. I am so thankful for the way He always mysteriously trumps my logic.

I’m still working behind the camera and will continue to share beautiful newborns and families. A loose plan is in place for behind the scenes and answering DMs for sessions. As always, emailing me is the fastest way to book a session [email protected].

My word for the year: prepare.

It’s a word I’ve seen written through Scripture
again and again over the last few months. He’s made it very clear this is the word I need to filter my year through.

The difference between the word now, and how I would have viewed it even a year ago, is the attitude behind it. When I think of all the ways the Lord has prepared a table, a way, a plan, a place of safety-I think of His intentionality. I think of Him planning details with delicate precision, revealing with timely perfection, and hosting with warmth and care. Prepare is a discipline, but the way I’m viewing it this year is through a lens of delight.

Not because I know what’s coming-
but because He does.

So here we go…Preparing my heart, body, home, and business with a posture of delight and anticipation.

The season doesn’t have to abruptly end. Soaking up what’s left until the first week of January 🕯️

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
