You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody. - Maya Angelou

The magic I get to witness every single time I pick up my camera is women remembering who they are. Not who they used to be. Not who they are trying to be but who they are right now, in this body, in this moment, in this life.

And this image from Kaitlyn’s session stopped me in my tracks. It’s real, intimate, cool and vulnerable all in one frame.

The power of a portrait never ceases to amaze me. 🫶🏼

Lately has looked like this: curly hair, a good hat, and new glasses (hello 45!). It’s looked like my husband and me stealing a moment before the day gets away from us, and a cheese board with a bottle of Spence that deserved to be opened. It’s been front-row seats to a friend brave enough to get on stage and sing her heart out, and a birthday celebration with women I’ve known for 35 years who still make my face hurt from laughing. Lots of photoshoots and creating. And then there’s Olive, my tortoiseshell queen, who spends her days plotting things I will never fully understand and executing them with zero regret..opening cabinet doors and eating roses to name a few. 😽

Kelly is one of those kind, gracious leaders who leads from within, and may prefer to not be infront of the camera even though you would never guess it from looking at how amazing she is.

When people come in for personal branding that is what they want - capture me authentically, show my authority and my approachability.

And when people are ready to show up in a bigger way, they find me. Sometimes it might be a nudge from your staff that is always asking for images of you and sometimes you are ready to have images that reflect who you have become.

When Kelly saw her final images, she was moved to tears. And then she sent me this message: “With deep respect and admiration for your exceptional skills and talent, I want to personally thank you. Truly, Judith, this is an influential moment in my life and I’m almost speechless.”

That statement filled my heart with so much love for her and the power of portriats. It’s what I live for. Not the perfect pose (although I do love a badass pose). Not the lighting. The moment a woman sees herself the way everyone else already does.

Kelly didn’t need to lose weight first. She didn’t need a new wardrobe or a different decade on her birth certificate. She needed someone to see her, celebrate her, and capture what was already there.

Confidence. Radiance. Presence. Power.

That is what happens in my studio. A woman sits in front of my camera and something shifts. Not just in how she looks, but in how she sees herself. And that shift changes everything. Her family sees it. Her work sees it. She now sees it and embodies it.

That’s the ripple effect.

If you’ve been waiting until you feel “ready”... you already are. And I would be honored to show you.

You don't build a business by accident. You show up, do the work, and create something that actually means something, maybe even something that reflects who you are.

And somewhere along the way, you stop waiting for permission to take up space.
That's the version of you I capture. The real one. The one who knows her worth, leads with heart, and has something genuinely worth sharing with the world.

I love helping people create visuals that feel like you on your best day, the day you finally stopped shrinking and just let yourself be seen as the leader and badass that you are.

That was the heart of Sunny's shoot. And I'm still in awe of her everyday. What a force in this world and what an honor to capture her branding images not once but twice now. And they just keep getting better because she keeps growing into a woman who inspires her team and her community everyday.

Now straddle me. ☺️ I save this fun prompt for the end of the bo***ir session. Most clients are are pretty unsure but trust me and go along with it, then they crack themselves up in the process. It produces the best candid, soulful images.

Only once did someone actually sit on me. (It wasn't this time) But, I was like I know I said straddle but No. We laughed about that for days. 😂

Most women don't lack confidence. They lack space. Space to exhale. Space to be held. Space where nothing is required of them except presence. We spend our lives navigating everyone else's expectations, being the professional, the partner, the mother, the daughter, the friend who always has it together. We perform our roles with precision, rarely pausing to ask who we are beneath all that doing. But when you enter a portrait experience rooted in care and safety, your nervous system settles alittle bit. The armor you didn't even know you were wearing starts to soften. And when the body feels safe, the real you can emerge. This is the foundation of transformation, not the camera, not the lighting, but the sacred space where you're given permission to simply be. Plus the fan blowing your hair helps.

Lately-ish….doing what I love, spending time with the people I love, the epic ice storm, the everyday and travel.

One of the client highlights was going to Angela’s house for a special on-location photoshoot and seeing her box from our portrait session 2 yrs ago on display. She said she changes the top portrait often to display a different photo from our session. And that’s the purpose of the box I offer. Seeing it in action made my heart swell. 🥰

And, February is a big birthday month for the Hills…niece turned 5 and 2 of my nephews turned 3 and 1. 🥳

The first half of life is about becoming who you needed to survive. The second half is about unraveling everything that no longer aligns with your soul’s purpose. That’s not a midlife crisis. It’s a rebirth.

She’s not asking for permission. She’s standing in it.

I think every woman needs a leather skirt and heels that make her stand a little taller and take up more space.

This is what grounded confidence looks like when you stop shrinking, stop explaining, and let your presence speak first.

Strong doesn’t have to shout. Power can be soft, feminine, and absolutely unmovable.

Show up like this and own the room before you ever say a word. 🔥👠

When I was 23, Mike Kopp gave me my first interview to join the economic development team under Governor Bredesen. I would have the Nashville market. It was my ticket out of my small town to the big city. I would be in that career for 14 years before following my dream to open my portrait studio full-time. At the time, photography was not even on my radar. I didn’t pick a camera up until I was 30 just 7 years after that interview.

Fast forward 20+ years and this is my second time photographing Mike. After 5 years, it was time for a refresh. Most of the time men come into the studio for Personal Branding sessions. And, I actually love photographing men.

With Mike, the conversation is always rich. We shared old stories from the “old” Nashville and the characters that got things done in this town. The ones that built the momentum it has today. We talked about transitions and the hardest part about making a change is the Identity Shift. We talked about mindset and how AI is impacting creative industries. We also talked about how our previous skills apply to different industries. It took me a few years to understand that the branding and marketing efforts in Nashville that built skyline you know today was no different than creating a brand and message around my own small business. The scale was different but the way was to do it was similar. And he reflected on that when he moved into the music industry.

We also took pictures. 😂 I’m a connector and talker. It’s part of my secret sauce because it always puts my clients at ease.

At this point, I’ve now photographed every boss I’ve ever had and I’m so grateful for their support and belief in me all these years. 🙏🏼

You can have many lifetimes in this one life. I’ve already had about 3, myself! 🤭

We evolve over the years. And capturing all the versions is my greatest honor. And this is why it is also important to stay on top of your Branding images. If I haven’t seen you in 3-5 years, this is a reminder that it’s time for a refresh. 📸

One of the highest forms of self-care is something we rarely discuss.

It’s allowing yourself to be witnessed, fully and without judgment.

That choice alone is transformative.

It signals to yourself and the world that you are no longer willing to exist in the margins of your own existence.

This is exactly what I have experienced in every photoshoot I’ve done. And this is what my clients get to experience.

I open up 4 shoots a month.

Hit your girl up if you want details.
