50 YEARS AGO TODAY AND…after seeing Springsteen's performance at the Harvard Square Theater in Cambridge, MA, music critic Jon Landau wrote in the May 22, 1974, issue of Boston's The Real Paper: "I saw rock and roll future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen."

And then in 1978…coming off of “Born to Run”, Bruce writes a song, but won’t be putting it on his next album “Darkness on the Edge of Town”. Patti Smith is a mainstay on the indie-rock scene, she didn’t have a hit. Bruce’s producer Jimmy Iovine convinces Bruce to give Patti the song. She records it and it’s her biggest hit to date.

Soon after it’s release in 1978, I was lucky enough to capture these two icons through my lens at two legendary concert venues in NYC, Patti at the The Palladium in 1979 and Bruce at Madison Square Garden in 1980 and way back then…they both had "Because the Night" in their sets.

Coming off the critically acclaimed double album “Lamb Lies Down on Broadway”, 1975 would see then frontman Peter Gabriel depart Genesis for solo waters. Phil Collins would take the band to commercial success and Peter Gabriel would launch what would become a nearly 50 year successful solo career.

Gabriel’s self-titled debut would be released on this date February 25th, some 47 years ago. These are a couple of select shots I was privledged to capture of one of rock’s most charismatic and dramatic front men. The first is from his appearance at the Palladium in NY in 1978 on the tour to support his first two solo releases. The second shot cames from Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ on the tour to support his third sola album in 1980 and features his longtime sidekick and bass player extrodinaire Tony Levin.

ON THIS DATE! Joe Jackson received a Grammy nomination for his chartopping hit, “19 Forever” off of his 1989 release “Blaze of Glory”. This was following the success of his SEVEN PREVIOUS STUDIO ALBUMS, starting with “Look Sharp!” in January of 1979 and “I’m the Man” later that same year in October. One month earlier, Joe Jackson gave a stellar performance of material off of both of these albums at THE PALLADIUM IN NEW YORK CITY on September 29, 1979. I was fortunate to capture his art on that great night nearly 45 YEARS AGO. These are just two of the LIMITED EDITION SHOTS AVAILABLE NOW AT https://pixtoclick.com/collections/joe-jackson

Greetings all. For as long as I can remember I always had a camera in my hands. My passion eventually grew into a free-lance side gig under the moniker Pix to Click from 1978-1981, at which point I got diverted to a great career working at MTV for it's first 15 years (starting in the U.S. and graduating to Europe) and put photography on the backburner. The multitude of artists I captured mostly for my own joy during those four years, has been sitting in files for the last 40 plus years. With some encouragement from a dear friend and brother (you know who you are), I'm making this photographs available for the first time, matted, signed, numbered and in limited editions. Now you may have seen a few of these that I posted over the summer, but the collection has increased and will continue to evolve. Check out pixtoclick.com. I hope it brings back some fond memories of our collective youth and past. Enjoy, Brian Diamond
