All I wanted for this shoot was a giant vintage bandana…
So I hand painted one 😏

When Kelly and I started planning her maternity shoot it had a polar opposite concept. We were doing a gown and horses with slicked back hair…. And as we got closer, talked more about how life changes with a baby, she told me about their love for Harley-Davidson and how she might need to sell her motorcycle. So we decided to use it for a photoshoot, be weird, and have fun!

There’s nothing more fulfilling than creating art with your friends and building a concept that feels 100% like them.
Photoshoots are meant to be customized to your hopes and dreams. So have fun with it and be 100% yourself.

If you can’t beat it… Use it as a tool.
Playing around with Ai & Composite Images to help create new worlds for my clients has been the biggest request the last couple weeks. Honestly, it’s been so fun. It feels like digital scrapbooking and learning more and more about photoshop has been kind of addicting.

So! Here is some fun edits just because I’ve been teaching myself new skills and I love to share the process.

We decided to play with the idea of composite images and fun edits to really bring in that surreal 70’s editorial fashion era.

There’s actually a reason advertising got a little weird in the late ’60s and ’70s. Instead of simply showing a product, photographers and art directors started playing with surrealism, exaggerated scale, collages and visual illusions to make people stop and actually look. The 50’s was that “perfect house wife” era and people got bored.

Technology was changing BUT this was before Photoshop so lot of these effects were created by hand, in-camera or in the darkroom. Advertising became less about showing what was real and more about creating a world you wanted to be part of… which is where I feel like we are heading now with ai and photoshop.

I’ve always been fascinated with edits like this. Anyone else remember the 90’s/early 2000’s when (I think it was Steve Madden) and the platform shoes started warping bodies and having giant shoes and little bodies and BIG heads hahaha those shoots live rent free in my head still to this day 😂 So that’s pretty good marketing!!!

This is a skill, one I’m pushing myself to learn the deeper I get into marketing, brands, and commercial.
I’m tired of being spammed with ads every second of everyday, I want to bring the ART back into brands and make REAL images that make people smile again.

I’m new to this, but it was so fun to play with.

We met when she styled a shoot for me the beginning of that month and we have been planning shoots ever since.
