It’s harder than it sounds, and I get it that!!

We plan a picture, professional or not, and it seems that ends up being the exact moment where no one is listening, everybody’s hungry, you realized you left that one outfit in the washer, and then your sleeve gets caught on the door k**b on the way out - then suddenly you’re not feeling it either 🫠

We show up like this, and we worry. We stress. We overthink.

But have you ever taken a moment to watch your kids when they think you aren’t looking?

Something about the way they just exist - giggling and creating their own fun without a care in the world. Without worry.

Why can’t a family session feel the same way?

When we lean into their lack of time awareness, and focus on the important things - like play & being together. Suddenly it doesn’t matter if they are being loud or getting their clothes dirty.

Because perfection was never what we were trying to capture. Just you. Exactly as you are. 🫶🏽

I want you to imagine for a moment you just moved into your dream home. There’s still a few boxes left to unpack, frames - still empty because you swore you’d take those photos before you moved but didn’t find the time.

Now, picture hanging them up with your special moments inside them. What do you see?

What colors do you imagine? Do they tell your story? Are they perfectly posed, or beautiful chaos?

For me, it’s warm fall colors and lots of giggles. No one in my family can keep it straight face, so the idea of a gallery wall full of our belly laughs and warm tones that match our home feels like ✨ us ✨

To my soon to be brides and grooms,

You spend so many months planning every detail, coordinating with family and friends, making so many decisions, feeling excitement and anticipation - when will it finally get here?

And then suddenly you’re surrounded by everyone you love, starting your very own story. The dress and tux is on, the doors open, you walk down the aisle, kiss, and boom - you’re married!

One thing I really try to encourage now is setting aside moments in your day to ✨ pause ✨ and actually soak in the joy and excitement of what’s actually happening.

I create space in your timeline before and after your ceremony to just breathe, pause, and let yourselves exist in the moment. Because it’s SO important to me that you’re present and experiencing your day exactly as you imagined it - with the person that means the most to you. 🫶🏽

Hey parents, I see you.

I see you in the corner rocking your restless newborn. I see you at the doctor’s office exhausted and waiting for answers. I see you checking the monitor at every slight noise. I see you crying in the car as you drive away from drop off wondering if you should turn around.

I see you the way I see me. Trying your best, day in day out with no idea if you’re ever truly getting it right.

But we show up anyway. We get up anyway. And I am so proud of us.

Your babies are so lucky to have you, and I mean it when I say this…

You’re doing great, even if you can’t see it right now. 🫶🏽
