This one is for the Milky Way lovers out there.
I shot this overhead view of the Milky Way band from the Red River Gorge in Kentucky late last year. There may be hundreds of millions of stars in this shot. Hydrogen gas glows pink. Sulfur gas looks warm orange. And dust (yes, star dust) blocks the light and looks dark brown or black.
This is a stack of 15, 20 sec. exposure images, f1.4, ISO 1600, 24mm. The tree top view foreground is a composited layer.
